All honestly, I wasn't too impressed with what they showed of Cloud. Still, that is crazy shit that hes even in it. Its so surreal.

Cecil, DA PIMP CALLED BUTZ, and TERROR Buried :(

It ain't gonna be wasted spot because people are more likely to purchase more iconic characters as DLC. It's just like booking draws in wrestling!

You've also got to take into account recognition. Cloud is gonna generate a hell of a lot more buys than Black Mage.

Vote for Katt. Do it. DO IT!
Honestly no matter who got picked be it Cloud or BM, everyone would download the character anyway for on reason or another. So far, there seems to be a 60/40 split on the Cloud announcement in term of love it/hate it. But really, I'm just disappointed that they picked the uninteresting but safe option. As for BM and notoriety, besides a Moogle I can't think of anything more classic Final Fantasy than a Black Mage and the potential to make a BM a unique and well rounded fighter is greater than Cloud ever will be. Hell Super Smash Flash 2 has had a proof of concept for a while now with BM. I will hope that the next fighter relived is a much more interesting pick like Shovel Knight, Wonder Red, Bayo, etc cause I swear to god if the next person reviled is Goku....

All these people talking about how Black Mage should be in instead of Cloud, how Cloud will draw in more name recognition and therefore more buys, how it's just another swordsman with fancy hair, meanwhile I'm just hyped that Nintendo and Square Enix are working together on a game again (kinda).

Order! Order in the court!
Screw Cloud over Black Mage, Cloud over Sora is way more of a head-scratcher.

I still like it though, NO ONE expected it and it's a hype as fuck announcement that came out of nowhere. Idc about "anime swordsman" or w/e, this is god damn Cloud. He's getting a lot of people hyped who wouldn't otherwise be, and that's awesome.

Although actually, Sora is owned by Disney so never mind. I suppose Cloud was their best choice.

I honestly would have expected Disney to negotiate an inclusion for Sora before ANYONE signed an agreement over Cloud Strife.

I mean, the only Nintendo games Cloud's ever even been in are Theatrhythm and the original Chain of Memories. This is a pretty weird day, guys!

You do realise how ridiculous you guys sound right.
Yes Nintendo should totally put in these niche to fairly popular Final Fantasy characters "OVER THE MOST WELL KNOWN FINAL FANTASY CHARACTER IN HISTORY WHO'S GAME IS GETTING A REMAKE!"

Ugh.
Final Fantasy started on a Nintendo System. It saved Square from going bankrupt. Nintendo played an integral role in the franchise and Cloud is one of the most recognisable faces in the series.

It doesn't matter what you think of his inclusion because he's already in the game. He won't be retroactively removed because you think he's an "anime" swordsman or that he hasn't had enough presence on Nintendo systems.

Either buy him or don't, and cross your fingers that whoever you feel "deserved" it more will be in the Smash direct in December.

Some folks make it their career to be continually displeased while p̶l̶a̶y̶i̶n̶g̶ discussing video games so the hand-wringing about the next reveal will be as real as it always is.
