The only problem that I'd have with Nintendo buying Capcom would be that if that happened is that we won't see any more awesome PC ports of their games and as a lesser downside, for fighting game players a lot of people would have to buy new arcade sticks or modify their old ones to work with the Wii-U. However in comparison to all the potential of what could come out of Nintendo owning Capcom and it's IP's these downsides are a trade offs I am completely willing to accept. It most likely won't happen though and it'l probably go to some large third party publisher like Sega instead because we can't have nice things.

I feel like this could be a double-edged sword. On one hand, Sega could more or less leave Capcom alone like they did with Atlus, with the occasion of pushing out a cash cow The other? All of Capcom's IPs are left as withered husks as we get MOAR SANIC. Then again, Sega's been doing pretty fine on the mustard race front, so if they buy Capcom out, we might finally get a Dragon's Dogma PC port. I mean, I love the game, but holy SHIT the MT Framework was not meant to be pushed like this on consoles. |

Nintendo could be great but it's a double-edged sword like anyone buying. No one company will solve all our Capcom problems. Mega Man back to glory but less fighters and the fighting scene for Capcom floundering is likely Nintendo. Sony would keep the fighters and maybe some Mega Man but everything else would die. Microsoft would bastardize it all. Sega? Maybe but I doubt it. The chances of what we got with Atlus happening twice is a miracle. |

I still have faith in Sony. I've said this a lot, but Sony would definitely keep Monster Hunter (for their Japanese audience), they could use Dead Rising, and besides that not much else is really profitable or has any fan interest. Lost Planet? Remember Me? Phooey. |

Whatever happens, it won't be EA or Acti that buys Capcom since there's a law of about how American/Western companies cannot purchase controlling stakes in Japanese companies or something. |

Nintendo buying Capcom would be out of character for them. They've already stated something along the lines of "buying out the company doesn't mean you get their talent that made them" or something. They'd buy the IP's out more than anything. so yeah, MEGA MAN and have an eternal deathmatch with Sony over Monster Hunter. Maybe RE. Dunno about anything else. Buying a company thats in shambles is something MS would do though. Edited by Shoenin, Jun 17 2014, 03:42 PM.

I was dumbfounded when I learnt that they weren't going to make a PC port of Dragon's Dogma back when it was coming out and I proceeded to be even more confused when they didn't port Dark Arisen to it. Seriously with how well the MT Framework engine works on PC and the type of game/gameplay it seemed like an absolute shoe in for an awesome PC port but for whatever reason it never happened... God damn it Capcom.
