Also has the best traveling companion and the second best Princess Zelda (probably because they're both the same character).

CUTE!
I am very late for this game but I don't care. I'm as hype as when I was when it was first announced. I can't wait to play as 2 of the best Zelda characters.

Spoiler: click to toggle

When's Groose?
Why has the Groose still not been set loose.

Skull Kid confirmed. Groose still not loose.

Amid speculation that Skull Kid is one of only three more new characters who will be in the game (after Toon Link was confirmed), Groose's chances are looking a little slimmer.

So I guess that makes Young Link the only character that directly has another playable character as a part of his moveset, since Skull Kid summons the moon during one of his attacks.

If Groose gets entirely excluded that will be really weird. Is he not popular over there?

Apparently not, according to what I've read. I think they hate fun. Japanese people also don't like Reyn or Hades from Kid Icarus: Uprising, for reference.

In the cases of Reyn and Hades, I heard that their Japanese dialogue was really generic and uninteresting. It was in the English localization where those characters really came to life.

Yep! Unless you count Cia using Dark Links, but I don't.

Re: Japan hates fun; I can see why Hades and Reyn wouldn't be as appreciated since their charm is in their lines and voice delivery. Groose, regardless of language, is a character whose popularity comes largely from his cutscenes and character development. Not to mention his musical cues (and subsequent internet memes). Unlike Reyn and Hades, he's not voiced beyond the Zelda series' standard grunts, laughs and wails. So there's really no reason for his exclusion.

Then again, we are talking about the same Japan that didn't revile Tingle after he forced you into paying him around 3200 rupees in The Wind Waker, and he had no purpose in Four Swords Adventures other than being a dick. Different strokes for different blokes, I guess.

Japan apparently love Tingle though despite him being seemingly largely hated in the west and he made it into the original as DLC.
Even if they don't like Groose it shouldn't matter because he's the most heavily requested character by the west alongside Skull Kid and the west is a much bigger audience than them.

Good point. I don't know how involved Aonuma is with the 3DS version, but he certainly takes Western feedback on board. You only have to look at Twilight Princess. Gloomy, more realistic graphics, no Tingle, paced a lot like Ocarina of Time... it was practically a love letter to occidental Zelda fans.

So, hopefully the cries calling for Groose to be loosened won't fall on deaf ears.

I don't hate Tingle, I'm just saying that seems to be the majority opinion in the west. It's even the codifier of it's own trope.
