Click Here To Go To The Kickstarter Long ago in an ancient time, where SNK was a well known name in the gaming business instead of being known for making characters that don't go over in the VGCW Universe (S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S. not included), they released a handy dandy portable game device called the Neo Geo Pocket Color. While it wasn't enough to topple the Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advanced, boy did it put on a 5-star mat classic! SNK released tons of fighters on here: Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters, SNK vs Capcom, the works! But most of those games are now overshadowed by their arcade counterparts. So, what if someone with enough balls and enough money created a faithful Neo Geo Pocket fighting game with original characters (do not steal)? Ladies and gents, welcome to Pocket Fighter!!! Pocket Fighter is a game created by Cardboard Robot Games, inspired by SNK's portable titles. While things are a bit dumbed down in terms of move execution, that makes it easy for newcomers to pick it up, and it's easy for veterans to get right into. Sometimes simple is better! Despite this, this game is actually pretty innovative with what it's adding! It's got some really clever things like: *Being able to choose a back-up character and switch after a lost round (similar to tournament styled scenarios) *Frame data bar on-screen to help you understand specials and to help you time *Cool Lua modding shit for funsies! This is just a basic rundown of the game: check out the Kickstarter page for more. $10 is the minimum pledge (gives you an actual copy as well as beta access), buuuuut if you're a big dick G like our fellow VGCW CAW creator and community member Blauze, you can donate $1,000 bucks and get your edgehog (or whatever the fuck you sick bastards come up with) in the game as a secret boss character! So what're ya waiting for? GIVE IT YOUR MONEY ALREADY DAMN IT

![]() I'm listening. For serious though, this looks like a good, well-meaning project. I'm really trying to restrain where my money goes this November, so I'm afraid for now the decision is that I'm not going to fund it. But I wish it nothing but the best. EDIT: Also, good on Blauze for his generous hand to this. I could do that, but I have people I'd need to explain the disappearance of $1000 to (or their GB Pound Sterling equivalent, £800 or something like that). Edited by Flamerider, Nov 15 2014, 08:06 AM.

So yeah, I pledged $1015 for this game. It's also the first time I'm backing anything on Kickstarter and I created my account just for the occasion. I've been considering donating money for a good game for a while now, and I settled for this one. This game seems to have decent devs at the very least, they're taking fighting games on a different angle (a bit like Divekick, but still remaining a complete fighter), they want to be on handheld consoles... But what made me pledge is 1) mod support and 2) the roster. You have original characters, crossovers from other indies and my own character as a boss, what's not to love? I like my money as much as the next guy, but this time, I really want to spend it. So please. even if you're not interested, help a brother out. Talk about this around you. Spread the news to your friends, on social media, whatever. Please note that if I hadn't overheard about this kickstarter project on Skype, I wouldn't have had any clue about this game at all. And now I'm one of the highest backers, so it really is all about knowing about it. Please talk about it, that's all I'm asking. Thanks. |

I already know exactly who my boss will be. ![]() Also, if you pledge $250 or more, you get to insert an easter egg ingame. I'm planning on having VGCW mentioned in Pocket Rumble, if Bazza is cool with it. It would be something similar to the poster in Octodad. Finally, the kickstarter isn't dead but the trends recently took a nose dive as you can see (check the trending history). So... I hate to repeat myself, but please do something I can't do and spread the word about this project. VGCW is literally the only community where I'm active and can find people who'd be interested in this game, and I'm not even trying to do that IRL because no one knows what kickstarter is in Belgium. If you tell your friends about it, who in turn tell their friends, who then pledge ten bucks, I'd be happy. Edited by Blauze, Nov 16 2014, 07:37 AM.

These guys might have saved the project by letting people know about it. Edited by Blauze, Nov 23 2014, 10:23 AM.

If you needed another reason to be interested by this game, know that this little guy will join in the fun.![]() That makes him the second Divekick character to be featured in Pocket Rumble, the first being Kick. and if you never checked the kickstarter page, 6 other successful indie game reps will be there, too. 7 if you count Candyman posted above. And also 3 more backer-created bosses (Baz being the fourth), including mine. And a VGCW easter egg. And fun for the whole family. EDIT : Oh, and the game has been greenlit on Steam, too! While I'm at it, we have 11 days left and so far almost $16K have been collected out of the $22,5K goal. Edited by Blauze, Nov 27 2014, 04:58 PM.

If things start getting close and it's not looking convincingly like it'll make the goal, I will start to put my hands in my pockets for this project (not a pun, shush), and then escalate the amount if it starts getting more dire. It's the same thing I did for Beast's Fury. EDIT: Speak of the Devil. Beast's Fury e-mailed their backers (and made some posts elsewhere) to have a look at Pocket Rumble. Not a big thing, but still nice. Edited by Flamerider, Dec 2 2014, 07:38 PM.

I've asked the devs if they were confident in their project and if they had plans to get more attention. They said that projects usually get more exposure towards the end of the fund raising period, and that they also planned to appear in some show called Sup Holmes. I don't know it but apparently it's quite a big deal. Now if only one other famous youtube channel could feature their game in a video, their goal would be achieved in a flash. It's true that they still need ~$4000 in a week, but it can happen. I think most stretch goals won't make it, but donations that happen after the end of a successful project often count towards them, so it's not a definitive no. |

FUNDED!!! (yay) What this means for me is a) my character will be ingame, b) I'll really have to contact bazza about the easter egg and c) I just spent €800 on a game. And you guys will be able to get a great game! At least I hope so, but I'm confident. Beta should happen in "summer-ish" according to the lead programmer, and stretch goals that haven't been unlocked yet (all of them except the first one) can still be part of the game.
