SMT x FE is looking questionable enough that I wouldn't mind just using the money I'd spend on that to get another main line entry instead.

It'll all work out.

SMT x FE looks like a Compile Heart game so far, hopefully it will deliver where it matters: gameplay. I don't mind weeb stuff as you probably know already.

But anyway

I wouldn't be surprised if they're dropping the SMT connection for the crossover. Apparently the name got changed in Japan, and there's clearly not that much to do with demons and shit in the trailer. At this point it's probably an FE with an Atlas slant on it, which is still pretty good.

Persona needed another game like Big Show needs another push.

I am anti-hype for both of these games. I would have no idea SMTxFE wasn't like fucking Neptunia if I hadn't seen like two seconds of Tiki on the screen. As for the 3DS one, something about the whole incredibly obvious real world connotations to the Nohr and Hoshido just turns it off for me. If they're going with the two games thing (4700 yen for each which is around 40 bucks) in the states, I don't think I'm going to buy it.

Edit: Here's Atlus's Explanation.
Quote:

“Given that this is a collaborative Fire Emblem project, I can imagine that many of you are feeling that what we’ve some is considerably contrary to your expectation. Indeed, on our side of things, we spent a long time at the beginning of development worrying over just how much we should incorporate from the main series and we’ve had a lot of serious consultations with Nintendo on this point as a result.

“In the end, though, we all came to the conclusion that if all we wanted was a more traditional Fire Emblem game, then it would have been best to have Intelligent Systems work on it. If we at Atlus are the ones who are going to be making this game, then we should be making something that plays up our strength.

“As a result, #FE is an RPG set in contemporary Japan, but focuses on the growth of a group of realistic characters with their fair shares of worries and conflicts. As the essence of the main series has been woven into it, ultimate we strive to make this a game that goes beyond just being a typical collaborative project.

“It might be hard to see just where that essence lies in the game right now, but we’ll touch upon that point in later updates as time goes on.

“For this trailer there are four characters that take up the spotlight, but of course we have other great characters lined up as well. (Although some we may only show off briefly by design.)

“It’s also worth noting that for #FE, we’ve also working with other renowned outside creators. As this is the first entry in the developer blog, I thought it was right that I go first, but future entries will feature these outside creators, as well as staff members from Atlus proper as well, so look forward to that.”

If this is a sign of things to come, then RIP mainline.

Given that Awakening was going to be the swansong of the series if it didn't perform well enough, I will happily allow myself to be price-gouged if it means they're confident enough in the series to Pokemon it with dual installments.

Definitely no interest in #FE if it's not a strategy game, though. Ah well.

You can play both stories as DLC, ya dumbs. Don't need to buy both games.

Not sure if I'm feeling two separate versions/selling one version as DLC, but other than that, I'm more or less sold on both SMT X FE and the new FE. I kinda get what issues people have with them, but they look cool enough to me regardless.

So is that them basically saying they consider Persona the main series now? Fuck me.

So the starting army with each version goes thusly:

Posted Image

Hoshido: Swordmaster, Pegasus Knight, Archer and Cleric.

Nohr: Paladin, Dark Mage, (female) Fighter and Cleric.

Lol if you think this is even a contest. Nohr supremacy.

As long as there's plenty of content per story I'm fine with it.

Hang on… more DLC? Yup, you can pay 2000 Yen with tax for a major DLC expansion, which follows a story where you don’t side with Hoshido or Nohr. This particular DLC will be made available at a later date.

This Batista Path intrigues me a lot.
