Hero Rance would like to battle

The Benoit name change was a given. That name is sadly synonyms with that tragic event not for the great wrestler that Chris was. And the People - Amie game is just weird, especially in public. Yeah you could get way with pokemon with some fancy word gymnastics, them being pets in stuff(except Gardevoir, Machamp, and/or Sawk you cant dodge those bullets), but you're dead to rights with fire emblem petting game. Might as well whip out the computer and play School Days for everyone to see. Better luck with Senran Kagura: Estival Versus, kissing mini game. Edited by Thaciscokidd, Feb 5 2016, 11:59 AM.

Worrying about how you look in public with regards to what game you're playing is a flimsy defense of censorship and pointlessly self-apologizing. In reality, no one cares what you're playing on 3DS when you're on public transit, between classes or in a park, period. Call it what it is: you're self-policing what you perceive as embarrassing. The same could be said for watching grown men hugging each other in a ring on your phone or video game characters doing the same thing. |

I sometimes catch up with VGCW on my shift breaks and I could not give less of a fuck if I get "caught" looking at something "weird". I have my headphones in for courtesy to others on break and it's not a big deal. As long as you're not being outwardly obnoxious to other people in the same relative area as you, enjoy the things you enjoy, especially if it's only as tame as face touching virtual men and women. And if someone does bug you or judge you, they're most likely assholes with no ability to look at themselves, their own behaviors and hobbies, and how they could potentially be embarrassing too. |

Okay, how many of touch your friends faces after your invite them to your room? To many the average layman, it's a point of creepiness. Especially since this is a person that is in a position of authority over you, with the exception of the other royals in which case, there's the other can of worms. Besides, I don't buy Fire Emblem for the petting. I buy it for the ...outside of being out of RPG's to play. |

This is a loaded question. Let me ask a decidedly less weaselly one. Does what you do in a game have to be reflective of reality or societal norms as determined by you? I personally think that's up to the creative team to decide what's appropriate or what isn't since, again, it's not real. Furthermore, there's no sinister intent here. It's face touching people who are not real. In short, it's a game. Of course you perform behaviors you wouldn't normally. Of course you can't Zandatsu your Roomba in half and take its energy. Of course you don't touch your co-workers' faces with a stylus. Edit - Now if your argument is: why is a dumb face-touching minigame in a Fire Emblem game at all? That's been the question since it was announced. Edited by Mr. Satan Overlay Face, Feb 5 2016, 12:51 PM.

Sounds Like A Bodacious Time
|
I seriously doubt that was why they changed the name. Fire Emblem names get changed all the time, Donnel was named Dennis in the JP version and I don't think that was because of the negative association with Dennis Rodman's trips to North Korea. Harold had his name changed to Arthur, and again I seriously doubt that's because of Harold Shipman or something. Shitty people do shitty things to names, but that doesn't effect what NOA names their characters. Benny is just what NOA preferred. Maybe they thought the more rough sounding name fit his character. It's not some big conspiracy. Edited by DongyKonga, Feb 5 2016, 12:54 PM.

The Nintendo ninjas read social media reactions and things people put up, even the joking stuff. There are people they pay to do that at all big companies: community managers, social media reps, etc. And they probably saw some of the Chris Benoit jokes. There's no way to definitely know but I assume it's something they at least saw in passing. |

I think the difference here is that if you google Benoit, the first link is to Chris Benoit's wikipedia page and the second link is to the Chris Benoit double-murder-suicide case's wikipedia page. There aren't a whole lot of Benoit's in pop culture, I can tell you that much. |

Yeah, I agree here as well. There's probably no good way to SEO your way out of the Benoit name. Chances are you'll eventually land on the Benoit murder-suicide, even with Fire Emblem searched along side it. |
