MAY IS ̶B̶A̶E̶ HEEL!
Thought I'd try out a different take on the Power Rankings we have. This utilises a momentum system based on the past 5 matches a wrestler has had in order to get a feel of how well someone is actually doing. The difference to the Elo system used in the Power Rankings is that this analyses very recent trends and is not based on who beats who but whoever wins, draws or loses no matter who the opponent is.

It goes on the following rules that may break your brain like it did mine though feel free to ask if you don't get something or I've made a mistake;

Spoiler: click to toggle

Anyway here is the table! I'll try to keep it updated after every show.

I really appreciate these. They seem to reflect the current trends of things very well. I'm just able to look at this and go 'yeah, that sounds about right' to almost every superstar... aside from Ganondorf whose momentum has been 'oh right he had matches this season'. Kind of answers that general feeling of 'if Snake lost his title shot, why should DK?' Because Nappa's an outlier and DK is red-hot while Snake has a hard life.

This is something I'd be fascinated with seeing updated more. Maybe like after each PPV or so.

... wow Ness, Eggman and Segata really are infrequently booked.

Poor Wario. Swag won't get you anything if you can't start winning the matches that matter.

Even your brother, the two-time champion of the Losers Bracket, has more momentum than you.

Red is on the same level as Phoenix, Illidan, Bowser and Duke. And Heavy, but those two are more evenly matched as far as I can tell. I want a Heavy/Red match, is what I'm saying. I just realized this now.

But yeah, cool idea, props to you moogledrink.

Wario has only just stepped up his game, give him another match or two then we'll see who has the least momentum!

The funny thing is, win or lose, Wario's momentum would probably go up just due to no longer being on a losing streak just by him having another match.

Unless he loses again, and then he will literally bottom out.

I do feel like the chart might be a little too short-run specific, to the point where there's going to constantly be people holding scores that are very close to one another. But I feel like expanding the number of matches would make this chart lose its value.

I'm not sure what, but with this many wrestlers, a little additional level of range might be a good idea.

He won't bottom out because he'll still have a win in his last 6 matches. In fact his latest match was a victory so he currently has more momentum than he has had in a long time.

Momentum can shift wildly after each fight they have because it takes off the 6th result they had and adds the new one. Here is some fun math using our new GM as an example as what could have happened.

- Gary Oak was W W W L L L before Duke which had him at 0 momentum points

- The win put him at W W W W L L giving him a staggering 11 momentum points because of the +6 he got from winning 4 in a row plus getting rid of the 6th loss, which was a -5 due to losing 3 in a row, to make way for the new win.

- A loss would have him at L W W W L L leaving him at 2 momentum points. Which still would be higher than what he originally had because he no longer has 3 recent losses in a row, but leaves him a far cry away from the 11 he could have gained by winning.

MATH!

Hey guys thought I'd update the momentum table. Quick summary of what happened

- Dante joins the fray!

- Phoenix Wright is a jobber scumbag who drops a whopping 17 places due to 4 losses in a row.

- Kefka has won 3 in a row and now breaks even. Another win will skyrocket the Klown. He also rises a massive 12 places!

- Barret's previous matches saved him from a drop at all even though he lost tonight

- Cage actually dropped despite winning due to his previous momentum coupled with better gains elsewhere

- Conversely the guy he beat, Vegeta, actual rose 1 place!

- Arino only rose 1 place but put him above the guy he pinned first, Guile, who dropped 6 places but still has Green Happy Colour because fuck you.

- Bison is now in the TOP 10!

- Donkey Kong and Nappa are now momentum wise the strongest in the league

- All 3 members involved in the title hunt are in the top 3 momentum wise!

- Bowsers 'Draw' moved him up 6 places, conversely Groose's 'Draw', in the same match as Bowser dropped him 5 places!

Quick update to see what happened to the momentum of last nights wrestlers;

- Flint moved up 11 places and is now on the same points as Kefka. Casual contendership match anyone?

- Zangief also moved up 11 places and continues to look very strong. #PushGief is working.

- Chief Arino moved up the higest out of everyone so far by a massive 18 places. With 2 MOTN's in a row the Chief has looked top class since his return to form after injury.

- Goemon's previous 3 losses in a row makes him still fall despite his heroics VS Haggar. Needs to be more consistent. Haggar himself fell by 8.

- While Arino had the higest gains his opponent, Knuckles, fell the hardest by 10 places. A win next time around means he can still maintain his recent momentum.

- Ebisu's point actually raised him above the actual winner, Airman. His 4 win streak will end in his next match regardless what happens so he'll most likely drop a lot if he fails to win. For now Ebisumaru is now just as strong as the champion, Scorpion. Let that sink in.
