Figured I'd make this since we now got a release date: September 1st (15th for PC)

Alright, dudes?
This game is going to be incredible.

Would love to see the 100 new screenshots but IGN is being awful.

I gotta say, before I played Ground Zeroes, I wasn't really that hype for this game, but after playing Ground Zeroes, I can't wait to play it.

EDIT: Ground Zeroes did it's job well.

I would add that Konami is even removing his name from the box of MGSV. Some low, petty WWE tier shit right here.

1000 YEARS!
KOJIMA :'(

well this is the end of Metal Gear after 5...no I don't care if they make a new one, I'm putting good fucking money on this

Konami CAN'T Make a good Metal Gear without Kojima, no fucking way

(if he IS leaving, I don't blame him, Konami seems pretty shitty to work with)

Sounds Like A Bodacious Time
On the bright side, Konami putting all of their money and attention into Metal Gear might stop after this. Maybe we'll finally get a new Goemon game or usage of some of those Hudson IPs.

The Goemon series is deader than Test in the west. Knowing Konami, it'll probably be a Goemon pachinko machine.

The circumstances surrounding this are weird, what with Konami taking Kojima's name and studio off the cover and promotional material. You can call is a company restructuring, but I doubt we'll ever truly know what went on between Kojima & Konami.

I knew we'd be getting a Kojima-free Metal Gear experience as long as Konami existed as it's the way of the modern publisher (That and this been telegraphed since MGS2). I believe Kojima knew this too. He's likely seen other Konami properties like Castlevania and Silent Hill fall off, which is why he stayed working on this franchise as long as he has (Maybe even why he gave some of his attention to both those franchises).

Kojima as very protective of this franchise (more so after Twin Snakes). The games are an extension of him, which aren't common with the multiple team "Triple A" outsourced games of today. He more or less wrote the story he wanted to tell with MGS1-4, and with Piece Walker he attempted to hand the reins over to his staff. For reasons of his own, he ultimately involved himself with the project, but I see now that this 'passing of the torch' idea might have been his way of keeping Konami happy with future MGS games while he basically hand picked his predecessors. MGSV is also a drastically different MGS experience, and I can see this as his attempts of experimentation of the franchise while still under his control.

What's done is done, and Metal Gear is now left in the hands of a company with a track record of damaging franchises left in their hands. And again, while we'll never know the true circumstances surrounding this, I cannot understand why "Konami" wasn't just outright named "Kojima" yet. With MGS being their primary source of income, this whole thing will be a fascinating train wreck to watch.

I'm only upset that this time, the best may no longer be yet to come.

So, Phantom Pain might as well be the last great Metal Gear game? That's kind of a depressing thought.

Konami makes most of their money from health clubs and pachinko machines these days, or so I hear. Wouldn't be surprised if they aren't making games at all in a few years.

The guy that complains about all the memes.
Huh. Did NOT know that about Konami- the health club thing, I mean. Pachinko, I could've guessed.

I'm honestly more disappointed that this means either Silent Hills dies, or we're going to end up with an incredibly watered down project without Kojima's involvement.
