EA's been a company for... what? 30 years? For their corporate mindset I'd at least like to believe they have more experience at making sales forecasts than that indicates.

Guys apparently EA wants this to sell 10 million copies. To put that in perspective the numbers by the end of March had Smash 4 at 8 million when you added both consoles together. There are 30 million PS4's and Xbox One's on the market combined and EA predicts 50 million by the end of the year.

Is EA crazy?
It's Star Wars, the cash-cow to end all cash-cows, they probably made half that total on pre-orders alone.

For those unaware, Battlefront has an open beta, no registration required for the remainder of the weekend. I've played it the past couple days so here are my thoughts:

PROS:

-Have to hand it DICE, the graphics and especially the sound design of the blasters is absolutely stellar.
-Shooting mechanics are pretty smooth, and zipping around Hoth in a jetpack is more fun than it should be.
-I heard a lot of concerns about the flight controls but to be honest, I haven't had any issue. The trick is being able to adjust the brakes when turning. Certainly way better than BF4's flight controls which were an absolute nightmare.
-Good to see BF still enables you to switch from 1st to 3rd person perspective which actually helps if there's another stormtroper/rebel moving in from the side.
-Heroes are a blast to play with and thankfully not as broken as I feared. Looking forward to when Boba is available.

CONS:

-Spawn system needs a lot of work, it seems you're just randomly placed wherever on the map, and there's an AT-ST or a whole bunch of stormtroopers in front of you. Hope other modes give you the chance to choose a spawn point.
-No server browser, the game utilizes matchmaking instead. If you're playing on PC or with a clan this might be a big problem.
-Walker Assault is pretty biased to the Imperials due to the aforementioned spawning issues. I think there's only been one instance where the Rebels won. This is a beta though, and I heard it was the exact opposite during the closed alpha, so wait and see.
-As this is a DICE game, there are quite a few glitches and lag issues right now which is likely to increase when the full game launches. If you remember BF4's launch, I recommend holding off on buying for a month or two until they get the servers and netcode stabilized.
-Not really much of a metagame, matches can start getting repetitive after a while.

Verdict: If your a big Star Wars fans or are looking for some mindless shooter fun for an hour after a hard day at work/school, you should be right at home. If you prefer you game with more depth or were a big fan of the older titles, you might want to look elsewhere.
