ORGASM.TXT

Guys, I've never been as happy from a game than I am now. I was happy with Borderlands 2 but it doesn't even come close. I was really happy when I heard about both Xcom remakes being announced but not nearly as much as right now. I was really, REALLY VERY A LOT happy with New Vegas, but nope, the mood I'm in right now tops it all. This looks perfect, this sounds perfect and it will play perfectly. Fallout 4 might become my #1 fave game in front of Xcom '94. This is that great. So great that I'm actually seeing the gaming business positively, which hadn't happened in years. So great I'm strongly considering to stop slacking off and make Butch and Boone already.
I'm gonna have to get a new smartphone tho because there's no way my smart-can't-even-handle-text-messages-phone will play those apps correctly.

tl;dr NICE!

not a fan of the new dialogue. I feel like having the PC voiced and every dialogue playing out like a cutscene will make multiple playthroughs get stale much more quickly.

...yeah I'm also concerned about this, but from a modding point of view. Voice acting never was the strong suit of most modders, and this dialogue style seems to be a lot more voice-oriented than text-based.
As for playthroughs getting stale... I'd agree but then I remembered that I'm the type of guy who keeps saying "okay THIS TIME I'm joining the NCR" at the start of a new game, but then always end up siding with Yes Man and go for the same choices I went for on my first playthrough. I did go for House once though So even though my dialogue choices end up being almost the same on my different saves, my play style, companions, the weapons I pick, the headcanon story I build for my character, the mods I play with are always different. And I'm never bored of hearing reading the same lines over and over again. It's no cutscene in New Vegas so my point doesn't exactly apply but my conclusion does, I think - I wouldn't worry too much about cutscene-ish dialogues making playthroughs stale. ^^'

A voiced protagonist is the absolute worst thing they could do and the story will probably the same god-awful Bethesda shit but I'm hype as fuck for this regardless.

A voiced protagonist will change... literally nothing for me. If anything, it will finally give character to a Fallout protagonist. And players will still be able to give their own personality to their player character, so why not? I won't criticize a whole game for such a minor feature before actually experiencing it.

Besides, with all they're bringing to Fallout, Bethesda can allow themselves to do this. It's not like they're bad devs. If anyone can pull it off, it's them.

I've never been a big fan of Fallout games, but this looks like it's going to be GOTY...if I can get a next gen system by then.

Oh it is gonna be a fantastic game, no doubt about that. This is Fallout. It cannot be bad.
But I'm guessing that by the time it gets released, haters will ruin it for me with their cheap negativity, like they did with Borderlands. I wish they'd bring arguments other than "doesn't look good lel" or "don't care don't want".
No offense to anyone on this thread by the way! Taking last comments as an example, it's your right to think it's "meh" or that what's his name lied, if that's your opinion then it's your opinion. I shit on things too.

It's sad that all that happiness and hype I had yesterday is already pretty much gone by now.

I want to be cautiously optimistic but that voiced protagonist is terrible and I refuse to let myself be tricked by Todd again

Concerned about the lack of a skills screen under the status tab.

Looking bretty gud in most other areas, though.

Yeah, I'm a fan.
Fun fact: Courtenay Taylor voices the female protagonist. You know who else she voice acts for?

I usually watch RAW in a group call, and even then I like to play Fallout New Vegas or some such on one monitor and put the RAW stream on the other while doing so. I can't imagine how anyone could subject themselves to watching RAW alone for three hours.
I kinda feel like playing New Vegas again now, thanks. last playthrough I mostly ran in unarmed and allied with NCR, what mods should I get for this playthrough
It depends on what your system can handle and how much modding you're willing to do.

The essentials for me are the 4 GB patch which allows the game to use 4 GB of RAM instead of 2, New Vegas Script Extender (a tool that a lot of mods require), Yukichigai Unofficial Patch (a massive collection of bugfixes), and New Vegas Stutter Remover (a tool that makes the game crash a lot less with no real drawback). For better performance, you should probably also look into a fake fullscreen so you can tab out without crashing the game. I'd also recommend the Weapon Mod Menu which allows you to remove and add mods to weapons rather than simply modding a weapon and being unable to remove it. The Mod Configuration Menu is also required for a ton of different popular mods so you should grab that as well.

It looks like you're looking for gameplay oriented stuff, though. My first recommendation regarding that would be New Vegas Bounties I and II, which are quest mods that let you become a bounty hunter and kill dudes for caps. Try Project Nevada if you haven't already if you want to get into some complete mechanics overhaul stuff. I don't like PN's default settings (as it tries to make New Vegas into more of an FPS and less of an RPG) but the beauty of it is that it's super customizable so you can set things however you like.

For more recommendations and tutorials over how to actually mod the game, check out this guy's channel. The only thing I'd point out is that he sometimes recommends using Nexus Mod Manager, which is a shit tier program. Always use Fallout Mod Manager when modding.

Very Gud list of stuffs
Also have a look at this guy.
other mods that I enjoy would be the Roleplayer's alternate start which allows you to be pretty much who you want at the start of the game (it's not OP don't worry), RobCo Certified if you're into robots, A World of Pain if the game gets too easy, Run the Lucky 38 Because dammit you have a perfect casino right there and it'd be a shame not to use it...

And if you want a taste of Fallout 4's settlement defense, check out Wasteland Defense that you can combine with Real Time Settler.
