Falcon and Ezio are who come in mind when I think of lay offs, the two of them have been around sense practically the beginning and have very little to show for it. How long do you try and fix a broken wrestler before deciding its just better to get a new one? |

Well you say that, but when Gief got an opportunity by turning heel, he did do a lot with it. |

1000 YEARS!

however unlike say Ezio Gief is physically unable to put on a good match he barely did anything in the 6 man at Endgame and still somehow brought the quality down, despite Zubaz and Layton's best efforts to save it Sadly Falcon doesn't have that either... say Ezio, could you...lend Falcon your ability to put on amazing shows even in losing please? at least that would be something Edited by Shadowmaster47X, Jun 22 2015, 09:05 PM.

Let's just have the Birds fight each other until the end of time, guaranteed good matches and at least one of them gets a win. |

I don't see why the Birds SHOULDN'T be worth saving when fucking Zangief got shoved down everyone's throat and got a forced push. People still like them both and to say that they've botched literally every chance in the book to save their careers respectively is a flat out lie. If this was the case, Ezio would have never beaten Air Man and Falcon would have never been Casual Champion. Plus, Ezio would have never beaten Captain Falcon at EG8. To say that the Birds of Prey are on the top of the hypothetical roster cut list is plain bias. If you really want to be right about that for once, there's really only one person who has no real reason to stick around. Segata. |

thank you big match jon

Can we not turn this into the roster cut thread? You do realize what happened there, right? To try and change the subject, I want to see the Kanji vs. Sabin match have more buildup then usual. Mainly so Kanji and Sabin can try and out-meathead each other. |

I thought the Birds were majorly liked by people Also I think everyone is worth putting effort in to save, at least for a little bit. A moveset/stat update for Falcon and a little bit of plot concerning their losing streak would be enough to see if they're worth sticking around. Last time Ezio got plot and a moveset update after a losing streak it resulted in one of my favourite vanilla singles matches ever, so I'm sure something could be done - especially with that other Falcon CAW that was discussed in his wrestler thread a while back. If it doesn't work, then clearly they've lost their luster, but there's an opportunity for a storyline and imo taking that opportunity and seeing what can happen is better than just going 'nah' - especially when the 'literally every chance in the book to save their careers' at this point has just been 'booking them in matches' The Birds have not had any plot about them for a while, and we've been given an organic storyline in their role as underdogs, so doing something rather than just passing them off is worth it, especially when you consider the great work they've both put in, what potential great moments might we miss if we just get rid of them because of a rough patch? (And please don't twist that into a 'What potential moments are we missing with New Blood?', because they're not mutually exclusive) Look I get that you don't like Gief but you know this isn't true. I get that not liking someone stops you from being engaged in a match and enjoying it but Gief has had a good season True I've always enjoyed longer waits between title matches for plot/buildup purposes, makes the title matches actually feel like big matches + it makes the 'feud' for the title less 'Champion VS Challenger' and more of a clash between the characters that makes the match and buildup more memorable Edited by goon, Jun 22 2015, 11:17 PM.

As long as the road to the title match is actually filled with interesting stuff, then yes, an extended wait can be a good thing. Just not too long. |

I don't think Sabin/Kanji really needs that much build-up. Spending too much time hyping up the match seems like a bit of a waste when it's clear Kanji is wayyy stronger than Sabin. Get it over with and quickly move on to a new #1 contender. |

Alright, dudes?

Zangief got a storyline, that's it. He didn't get any sort of push, you're getting worked by a t-shirt and a in-joke. If I "pushed" him he would have been in contenders matches and title shots which he clearly wasn't. Plenty of people liked Zangief's new heel direction, just because you and some others didn't doesn't mean he was "shoved down our throats". If you don't like a character, that's fine, but don't talk utter bollocks. |

Sabin is undefeated against new stars though, having beat Edgeworth and Layton (and somewhat new Illidan), Kanji might be too inexperienced Giving time between winning contendership and the title match also allows for other wrestlers on the card to build themselves up for a better contendership match (either that or a wait after the title match). Moving quickly results in people who have really shaky reasons for being in contenders matches being put in just because we're chasing another title match, which I'm not a fan of. I've always thought #1 Contenders matches should be somewhat of a big deal, and you can't properly build it up if you're waiting a week between Contendership and title match, then the very next show having another contenders match |

Yeah, I'd rather not have a repeat of Barret and Snake losing their contender's match, and then immediately getting another one because nobody else was even vaguely ready. |

I could be mis-remembering, but I recall that the TJE and Kanji matches stipulated that they happen on the next show. Personally, I'd rather the title shots happen immediately on the first show. It's what we were told we would get, it puts a nice bow on the Bazza booking and gives us an official fresh slate, and allows the show to start out on a really fun and hype note. It's silly to act like it's hard to create a contender. While I get why you'd be concerned with oversaturation, there's no hard and fast rule that says we can only have a rumble match, EC, or a KOTR every five months or whatever. Thinking back, easily the most memorable contender's match for me was the popular vote Elimination Chamber. It let the viewer have some input, resulted in a pretty unconventional yet surprisingly hype list of contenders, and gave us a contender who would probably never get a whiff of the title outside of a rumble match otherwise. We should do more of that. And some specific jabronis shouldn't stuff the ballots like they did last time, 'cause c'mon son. Edited by GirthIgnorer, Jun 23 2015, 03:26 AM.

Gary did say that Kanji would get his title shot on the show after End Game though, so a feud between Kanji and Sabin might have to be more like Dan vs. Knuckles. |

Sounds Like A Bodacious Time

Segata just needs to be booked more frequently and show up in plot. People were talking about booting him off the roster, then he showed up in Koopa Toons. Everybody absolutely loved it and Segata was super over again but it just sort of ended. Segata totally fits in a more lighthearted VGCW. And if for some reason Segata ever does get cut, he deserves to go out like this: |
