So has Airman actually been written into a no-win situation here? Lose, and get your shot at the main belt be complete reset. Win, and be the least interesting possibility of the group? If even the people writing the show didn't want him to win, it really feels like he's been fucked over more than he's fucked us over.
I'm sure TOH and crew will come up with something, but it's pretty telling that Air Man kind of just won his way in and got in through his supporters pushing it, rather than getting any real build.

Add in a bit of that always wonderful live flavor, and you end up with this situation. Much like Red winning the rumble back in the day, I suggest those that are fans simply accept that not everyone likes him, and don't let our grumbling detract from your experience.

I will admit, I didn't like Air Man much, at first, but I've come to like him a lot more so I kinda hope he does win.

Remember last year when we were excited for this?
Myself, I'm behind Drac as I think he's the more well-rounded character. I guess having emotions would do that. Nothing wrong with Air Man (except for that whole kill all the humans thing), and as has been stated earlier he's got Break Man to bounce off of, so he would be fine. And again, as I said earlier, there are potential Season 8 callbacks here, so it's not as if they had NOTHING to do with one another.

As for match quality, Air Man's got 5 MOTNs... you don't get that while being a total sandbag. It should be just fine. I am especially trusting of TOH's brand of main event magic.

Yo, it's me. It's me. It's A.T.B.
Honestly, I may be in the minority, but I would have liked Air Man winning if Sabin had won. I think that sets up an interesting story where Sabin keeps getting set up against more of the "Monster" wrestlers, and him having to overcome them.

I'm sure it will end up being a good match, and I'm optimistic TOH and crew would make a cool story around it that gets me invested, but I think that Air Man vs Dracula is probably the possible matchup I wanted the least.

Air Man vs Drac for the belt is the perfect "every way makes my gain" scenario in my world. Can't wait.

Airman's coming for that triple crown baby. You know I'm already hype for it.

NOPE.
Without any plot buildup, Air Man vs Dracula sounds like a really good, really interesting mid-season title match. With a few episodes designated to making it bigger than that, I'm not too worried about it not meeting the expectations of End Game.

Wow, got some real sourpusses in this thread. IMO it's incredibly easy to make this an exciting match. Is it as interesting as the other three winning? Not at first glance, but there is plenty that can be done with the storyline that you don't even have to think too hard about to find. Air Man is great and one of IMO only 4 wrestlers on the roster that when their music hits and they come out you go "oh my fucking god RIP whoever. This shit is over." and that is an amazing aura to have, and he has the Triple Crown backing it up.

I don't get how Strong New Champion On A Hotstreak vs Unstoppable Force Coming To Make History isn't a good story even before any work has been done with it.

Dracula's drinkin' buddy
Airman doesn't really do much for me, but there's no wrestler in the company I honestly think is BAD. It's only kind of the worst outcome just because there's less foundation laid.

But here's the thing: One of the main reasons why we even LIKE this site is that, unlike actual wrestling, it's got that added element of chance thrown in, and sometimes things don't go the storybook way. Sometimes they -still- do and it's perfect and wonderful, but sometimes you get something out of left field, and that allows magic to be created organically.

How many people liked Ganondorf vs Octodad from way, way back when? What wrestle-mans company would even BOOK that, let alone have Octodad win?

It just seems like a silly thing to be disappointed about. It'll just make any of those eventual payoffs all the sweeter.

EDIT:
Guy above me mentioned music.... Is there a consensus on that? I fucking loved the original remix that Airman had when he debuted, and while his current mix is fine, it doesn't have that same "Get super pumped" feel the old one did. Am I alone in this?

I'm pretty sure I've seen a few other people say they preferred the old version, and I liked it but I think this one suits Air Man better. The first few garageband sounding seconds just make a perfect kind of warning sound, then it goes into a more fast paced and frantic mix of his theme.

Watching the Network recordings right now and 7:20 to 10:38 of the KO Triple Threat is missing, with just a static image of Demoman preparing an Aperture Waterslide on Layton.

Regarding Breezy's contendership, Air Man has time to build up the match and a great mouthpiece in Break Man. He'll be just fine, and Air Man vs. Count Dracula sounds like an excellent match for End Game.

Heh, blow vs. suck.

Air Man has time to build up the match and a great mouthpiece in Break Man.
OR

JUST MAYBE

Air Man could build himself up on his own and NOT rely on somebody else to get by in plot? Maybe give him his own character? Make him an individual? Make him not be somebody's lackey for the very first time in his career? Not have him be a metaphorical satellite to whoever he's following at that moment in time?

I don't want to hate Air Man, I honestly don't. But there is nothing about him that makes him unique or interesting on his own right now. Say he beats Dracula and becomes the champ, he would need to make promos and actually do stuff right? Or would he just let Protoman do everything for him? Would he continue to be a mindless wall of metal with the one trait of "BEEP BOOP I DON'T UNDERSTAND METAPHORES"?

As it stands the only person to benefit from Air Man being champ is Protoman, and he hasn't earned that! Proto should not get all the benefits of being a champ without being a champ. AIR MAN would be the champ, not PROTOMAN, and it should be presented that way.

In the past it was Wily or Eggman saying "Hey Air Man, go do the thing" and him going and doing that. Now its Protoman saying "Hey Air Man, go do the thing" and him going and doing that, except now he has the "What is word play" joke that stopped being funny after the 6th plot scene of that being the main punchline.

If Air Man becomes champion, I want him to BE the champion, I want him to be his own person, have his own motivation and aspirations, his own distinct personality, I think every wrestler deserves to be able to stand on there own. ESPECIALLY if he's going to be our first triple champion, that should mean something right? Somebody with that accolade needs to be a genuine VGCW LEGEND! Waluigi, Dan, Eggman, they have the history, personality, and have EARNED the right to hold such an accolade.

And right now, as of this very moment? Air Man does not.

I feel like we'll get a promo with The Mavericks coming out to talk to Dracula. Break Man will do the talking for a bit, but Air Man will cut him off and get serious. It would be a cool moment.
