More sizzle than a rasher of bacon.

I don't want to go into details as there's some ideas that we might be able to carry over or are still ongoing, but we hit a lot of what we wanted to do this season. We made a "character dartboard" at the beginning of the season, listing out talent and then brainstorming ideas, just whatever came to mind. Haggar/Layton was fortunate. Layton's got a very head-focused moveset, so him against Haggar was just the right fit.
Going back to the character dartboard, DK was one we didn't have very much for. He was already very accomplished with 3 VGCW title wins. Scorpion fell in with Cage, so a team-up there was out. Just wasn't much we could do without having him go crazy and calling it a career, so we went ahead with it. Wario might have been able to stave a cut with a good pile of wins, but I can't say for sure.
I don't think we really had much of that. Maybe Falcon, but he was just difficult in general thanks to how his matches went. |

Would you of did the same with Duke as you did with Vegeta if he won the King of the Beach tournament instead? |

just to single in on someone Did you expect Jensen to make as hard a 180 on his career as he did...I mean 4 MOTNS, goddamn Also was this World Tour angle thought of before hand and were Asura and Falcon always planned to be part of it, or was Falcon a slight addition? Tough to say. Every character's got their own way of being king.
Character support-wise, I did expect things to look better. Having an emotional scene with Gabe and seeing character development like Jensen did is tough to cheer against. Match quality's a different story, didn't see his performances ending up like they did. Quite a season for him too (I probably should have mentioned him with the others I listed earlier). World Tour came off some suggestions here a while back. Falcon and Asura, they've both been considered for a fair while, Falcon moreso. The reason we put Falcon on sabbatical was so he could make it through the season to be a part of this. It was looking hairy at the rate things were going. Edited by TOH, Dec 5 2015, 11:47 AM.

look I hate being the guy to ask "That" question but going off Cran mentioning Sonic, was anyone else looking shaky going into this season that you feel pulled themselves back up? |

Wasn't the biggest Haggar guy coming in. That's definitely changed. |

Where did you come up with the idea for Red walking through the wall in Gary's office plot? |

Impromptu Q&A? I'll just slide right on in. A lot of these questions seem to be centered around 'who were you most surprised by this season', so I'll go the opposite direction-who were you most disappointed by this season? I know Falcon and Goemon are up there, but are there any others? |

X: Doubt

To weigh on this a bit as well, I thought Jensen was legit dead in the water if he didn't do well in the first match. It was a massive relief when the changes I made didn't make everyone angry and he won MotN, and I can't lie that I'm a bit proud it worked. |

Cran's idea. He just wanted to do something with a little bit of a creepier tone to it. It would freak Gary out and give Red a little more character.
Wish the Rogues did a little better... |

Where's Zangief? On serious note, I notice that three of you have been making plot together. Do you call dibs on specific characters? Edited by Mosaique, Dec 5 2015, 12:12 PM.

Any characters that surprised you with how they became enjoyable to book or write for? Or just any favorite angles, promos, or plotlines this season, purely from a 'this was fun to put together' perspective? Thanks for all you did, guys. Really. |

During Bazza's final Q&A for the channel, he mentioned Kanji was his third choice behind Sho and Raijin, both of which he had problems getting their CAWs together to a point where he had to shelve their debuts. And now, here they are debuting this season. Was this always planned, or was there another Kanji situation that led to their debuts? |

At the beginning, yeah, but we sort of bled into each other's characters as we fleshed them out. So it was effective at getting them started and it allowed us as a team to "get" a character more so we could write them ourselves. There's still some preferred writers for certain people, but it's been a big help.
Arino's TamaGe segments were a fun change of pace. Kryptik made the first two, and I handled the End Game one as well as the audio direction. It was just something different to bring to the table.
I'm a big TWEWY fan, so I've been in support of Sho even before this season. I think knowing Bazza was going to use him was pretty surprising as it's not a non-EDBW call-up I would have expected from him, so that in itself made it feel a little...safer? He was on the shortlist no matter what, though. And the events of the season accommodated his call-up too. Raijin, we just wanted to make the Disciplinary Committee feel a little more relevant in the scheme of things. Having one of them in the ring helps with that, and Raijin fit the beach theme best as he'd probably have the most fun with it, so we put him on the roster. The first episode was a good time to have a nice surprise. |
