Super Mario Maker Website I'll be damned if I let what is likely to be an amazingly fun and dumb game be left ignored here. So as such, let's have a thread about Super Mario Maker. It comes out on September 11th (I wish I could make this up ) , and will likely have a gorillion options for items to use, six different themes to work with at launch (Overworld, Underground, Underwater, Castle, Ghost House and Sky/Airship), four different art styles (SMB1, SMB3, SMW and NSBMU), and more wackiness that can be made and had than a typical Night at VGCW.Come discuss this game, what you plan on making, and how mad at video games you'll eventually become when playing user-made levels, when the game comes out.

The extreme overexposure of it by Nintendo at this years E3 actually hurt how I feel about the game a bit but it still looks like fun. That being said I worry there's not enough content to justify retail price, hopefully there's a lot of Nintendo built levels and bonus content already in the game. |

Based on the features list on the site, it does say both community and Nintendo-made levels. So odds are there'll be plenty of levels made by the big N themselves, at least as sample testes of what the editor is capable of for wacky fun. Also, it's confirmed we'll be getting 90-100 skins to unlock, which you can use in your levels via the new Mystery Shroom. You can unlock them via Amiibos, or by doing the 100 Mario Challenge, which is completing a set number of levels with 100 lives to work with. Likely quite a few times, based on how much you unlock per run. And if the E3 antics are right, all Sm4sh characters + Isabelle are confirmed for skin slots. Although even if all 52 non-Mii characters cover slots, that + Isabelle means at max over 47 more slots for fun character skin antics. Maybe some of your favorites may enter at last in a Mario platformer? Will we finally get to see in a platformer at last?

Hopefully this game does well, and Nintendo makes more Maker games. Zelda maker! Kirby maker! Fire Emblem maker! ...Maker maker? |

Alright, dudes?
|
This is game is going to be gold. I predict some really interesting and fun designs will be downloadable. My biggest concern, from seeing so many ROM hacks over the years, is that most people lack creativity so just end up making "Look how hard my stage is" levels. Which I think the online will be plagued with. |

I think with regards to the "hard for the sake of hard" levels they have at least somewhat addressed that by making sure that you can beat the level yourself before being able to publish it online. That said, there will probably still be a fair number like that, unfortunately. Still, the legitimately challenging and creative ones will hopefully rise to the top above all the dregs and dick levels. |

I don't know if I'll get it. I've got less creativity than a palette-swapped Sonic OC, so if I make any levels they'll be boring as hell. I tried Lunar Magic once upon a time and the results on my part were naff. Still, it might be worth a go if only for the player-created levels and getting some more mileage out of all these bloody amiibos I've accumulated. |

Remember last year when we were excited for this?
|
Hopefully the community voting processes or featured levels will be good so the good levels can be more visible, and the bad levels will just kinda be harder to find. On the other hand, this is Nintendo. Nintendo's online offerings haven't been great, but they certainly have been getting better with the support Splatoon has been getting. Does anyone know how that Wario Ware maker game did in terms of level discovery? I almost wonder if that was meant to be the practice of this kind of online function before Mario Maker could be released. |

I can't wait to see what everyone will do with this feature. I'll start. I'd abuse the Wilhelm scream and MLG air horn. EDIT: Custom sound effects aren't available in shared videos. Edited by BRomega2900, Aug 20 2015, 10:53 PM.

I should make my own personal sound pack for this based on the positive response of recent promotional videos.
