They're also squeezing in steam codes for some of 505's other games and a bunch of contests which will "offer a choice between a customized Indivisible PS4, customized Indivisible Xbox One, or an EVGA NVIDIA 980 video card!", in gradually more desperate attempts to really sweeten the deal. EDIT: On top of that, the prototype is now on Steam. Edited by Flamerider, Nov 24 2015, 02:17 AM.

This is really fascinating when you look at it. The Skull girls people kind of need this game to keep the lights on, and I remember hearing that if they get the million and a half then they will get an investment of 2 million dollars. Also, they ran out of time but after begging to Indiegogo they got a few extra weeks. Currently they have about a week and a half to raise about 400,000 dollars. |

Hmm, ~40k a day for 10 days would be a reasonable clip, but I don't think I have seen that happen outside the start and the extension push. Who knows. Also, Freeway they didn't beg IGG, Indiegogo, unlike Kickstarter, has a policy which allows a one-time extension up to their maximum campaign length of 60 days. Now if the campaign gets extended again, then it would be slightly bullshit. |

Lab Zero should be able to pay its overhead costs from its revenues. Most responsible businesses do this so their net income must be terribly low if they have to go begging to even pay their rent. On a personal level, expecting donors to keep their lights on speaks to why I wouldn't invest in them. If they can't pay their own bills, why should I trust them with my money in a development capacity? |

If they don't meet the pulse-check goal of $1.5 million, LZ will not receive a backend investment from 505 and they won't be a thing any longer. I'm not very positive on companies who let their financial health get to a point that it's a boom or bust situation. It's irresponsible. How is this difficult to understand? Lab Zero is an independent developer that puts it's own creative vision over money for the most part. They might've been able to pitch it to a bigger name company to make money but then so many things would've changed that they felt taking a risk with crowdfunding would be more worth it in the long run. Plus I would certainly put my trust in a developer that not only delivered on its previous campaign, but over-delivered. I just can't because college. Edited by Nap1400, Nov 24 2015, 08:45 AM.

When you can't even pay your overhead costs, that's not really the time to say, "But my creative vision!". It seems like they could have gotten money from a publisher if they had made compromises. I'm not saying that the choice to moderate creativity is the correct one but sometimes if you wanna stay afloat in the business of making games (it is a business, not a charity, welfare or meritocracy) you need to take the safe, guaranteed money. If they believe themselves outside of that system then for their sake, let's hope they can meet their goals and have that vision win out. Because if they don't make that goal, they'll look very foolish. |

This is also working off of their previous campaign where they received way, WAY more money than they previously anticipated. They took a risk of crowdfunding back then thinking they'd barely have enough money to make Squigly and ended up with 4 (eventually 5) more characters they could make thanks to the overwhelming success. It might backfire this time but maybe the hope they got from that campaign drove them to push it a little further. Perhaps too far this time, but I'm optimistic. |

A Def Jam lawsuit between Konami and Autumn Games kind of denied Lab Zero any revenue from Skullgirls, but that said, I agree with you. I understand that they want this game to be entirely their own (part of the $1.5 million is to keep full rights to the IP), but they're in a really bad situation and probably should have made something on a smaller scale for their own sake. Plus, this is a very niche genre they're aiming for and they need what will practically be an IGG record to get off the ground. Also, supposedly their office is located in Beverly Hills, making the rent exorbitantly high. That hasn't been doing them any favors in assuring people that they truly need $1.5 million. |

$250K for a final days push is very doable. Lab Zero would really have to drop the marketing ball to not make their goal now. |
