Well either way it's getting made now.

I put some money towards it because it looks gorgeous and I feel like ambition shouldn't be punished by the shitty luck the studio has had. If it turns into another Mighty No.9 situation, then I'll suck it up. I'd rather the game be made so we can say it's good or not, rather than leave it as a "What might have been" situation like some OTHER games...*sigh*...Silent Hill died too soon...

After playing the Prototype, I doubt that will be the case.

I was always waiting for the last few days to back this game anyway. I'm glad its happening, the prototype has lots of potential and showed off some great ideas, and from the work they did with Skull Girls I have no doubt in their ability to deliver a product I'll be happy with.

How the hell could this end up being like MN9?

MN9 was a case of a rock-star figure over-extending the goodwill he bought, a closed-doors development with a team of amateurs that had any criticism of the product shown filtered out and concept art shown in favor of in-game footage, the exact opposite of L0's case.

To put things into perspective, Indivisible's PRE-ALPHA, ROUGHLY PUT TOGETHER DEMO looks better than Mighty No 9 does now heading towards launch.

I meant it more in the "I regret putting money on this" sort of way than actually comparing this to MN9.

But that didn't come across because I'm bad at the making of talk good.

I'm going to have to agree with Nap and Semprini here. Wait until the game is out before you start doomsaying. If you can't see how a game that's basically only just entered development proper can be good, then you clearly have a fatal lack of imagination. We have absolutely no idea what the finished product will be like; there's no guarantee that any negative aspect you've picked up on will still be relevant later on; you have no idea how this game will develop creatively over time.

It really feels like some of you are trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy: you've decided that Indivisible is going to be bad for some arbitrary reason, and now you must interpret everything as proof that it will be bad. I hate seeing this kind of negativity, it accomplishes nothing constructive and clouds your judgement.

I agree that the circumstances surrounding the funding was dodgy, but what's done is done. Instead of being anal about the mistakes and wilfully blind to any positives, just go with the flow and wait to see how it looks when it's done.

I got burned on MN9. Or at least, that's how I feel about it. Indivisible releasing a playable demo really sold me on this. I only hope that each character gets developed imand isn't just 'the armless chick' or whatever.

Yeah, I'm a fan.
I don't know why people even funded Mighty No. 9 expecting something that wasn't shit. It looked like a Megaman knockoff and in general just looked like shit. Both Lab Zero and Double Fine have a history of doing crowd funding and holding up on their promises, so stop comparing other companies to people who have nothing to do with them. For fucks sake on the first page of the Indivisible indiegogo page they tell you what was funded and what they gave people for Skullgirls.

If I could rescind my MN9 donation and give it to Indivisible instead, I would. This is until only recently knowing nothing about Indivisible other than its company is historically beloved, which is a hell of a lot more than Inafune can claim.

Well, that and the wide selection of indie game characters basically made me aware of the project where I wouldn't have been otherwise due to bizarre marketing stumbles that cast a shadow over it in the first place.

And I must say, the undercurrent of people talking shit about the game because it has guest characters is making me that much more interested in playing the game because no shit that is how cross marketing works and also I like Shovel Knight, Shantae, and Red.

I'm becoming retroactively interested in Skullgirls because of this debacle as well. This is a good day.

This alone should have earned Indivisible more money than it did. Lab Zero waaaaay over delivered on their Skullgirls promise. We got so much extra stuff. They made an April Fools character and just decided, "You know what? Nah, she's real. Here you go."

I fully expect similar treatment with Indivisible and even if we don't get it, at the bare minimum we get a cool game with a bunch of cool guest stars. Some kickstarters deserve a little hate but this sure isn't one of them.

Will this game be good? Probably, but I'm keeping my expectations in check because I do have concerns about the game.

If they are shooting for a 20-30 hour game like Chrono Trigger, but based on what I have seen of the story there is going to be padding/arc fatigue. A lot of elements introduced to increase the scale, collectathons, grinding, some "You thought that person was the main bad guy, but it was actually ME!" and the like.

Another thing is that with so many playable characters being forced into a party of 4 (rather 1 locked character + 3 character slots, if the party system is kept the same in the final version) is kind of harsh, especially since there will be incarnations and combinations that will unintentionally be superior to others so a good number of the characters will just end up being bench warmers. Chrono Cross had this problem.

I'm also not exactly expecting most of the incarnations to get much, if any, character development, but then again it's not really their story so it's not as much of an issue.

I also have potential concerns about gameplay, but I'll wait until I see some non-prototype footage first because I expect it to be much different that what we have now.

Now that one of crowdfunding's infamous hucksters has returned to fool people again, Indivisible's issues are pretty tame by comparison. I regret being tough on this game since it was actually people like Schafer and Inafune that poisoned the well for others in the first place.

At least they'll get to make the game according to their vision, frayed edges and all.

Oh, yeah. I didn't give anything to this game, but I trust that it's going to produce a better result than Psychonauts 2. If it's good, I'll give it a look at.

I know that there is a blurb about everyone, but I feel like that, an ingame introduction and maybe a sidequest is almost everything we will get from a number of them and they will remain pretty static in the story proper. I guess I've been spoiled by social links/supports and whatnot. I just don't want to see some of these interesting designs get wasted.

As for the character progression thing, I guess that works, but I'll need to see more of the game first. Who knows, there might be a particularly juicy upgrade in the upgrade shop and you will need to pay for it somehow.
