Forever Miku's loyal fan.
I already put up my thoughts regarding this in two other threads. He was a good man and an inspiration to many gamers both young and old. This is truly a dark day for Nintendo as well as the gaming world in general. He left us with a legacy that won't be forgotten.

This man was a miracle worker, and the best programmer/coder Nintendo ever had. Pokemon Stadium's battle code being done in a single week, and Gold/Silver being so debugged and compacted that we got two regions for it for one.

But his biggest accomplishment in my eyes, is the time he rewrote the entirety of Earthbound's coding, ALL OF IT, for the SNES. All on his own, and without even having any of the original code to work with. Without Iwata, VGCW superstar Ness, and EDBW superstar Lucas would have never existed. And for that, it is a true reason to remember him as a good man who was also an amazing programmer.
The man's even had so many more subtle effects here. Consider another small thing he did, bring up the idea of making Super Smash Bros a Nintendo crossover fighter, think about how much that small idea could have changed things. Would VGCW superstar Captain Falcon still be so over, or would he ever have had his CAW in the first place without Smash giving him so many iconic moves? Would Fire Emblem have come to the west when it did (or at all) without Marth and Roy paving he way in Melee? Would WVGCW diva Lucina still exist in her current form?

The man undeniably had a huge influence on gaming in a lot of ways, he truly will be missed but he's definitely left behind a legacy.

I'm reading this while keeping in mind that the last segments of Bazza's last VGCW episode was a giant homage to Earthbound's ending sequence, making the whole thing that much more poignant. I don't think there's a Refreshing Herb strong enough to cure that kind of uncontrollable crying.

Iwata was nothing short of a genius. He was an innovator, a visionary, a businessman who knew and understood and felt his industry, and above all else a gentleman.

It's also tragic to have only just learned just how much he was involved in crafting some of my finest childhood memories. The man put Kanto in Pokemon Gold and Silver. That blew my bloody mind as a kid, and it still does today.

His name is in the credits of more or less all of my favourite games, and it will always be in our hearts and minds as gamers. Rest in peace, you wonderful, humble man. Party on up there with Yokoi and Yamauchi - you gave so much to the industry and to us all.
