This is something that I've had an issue with for ages and I've always tried to hear out what people have to say from Day 1. This should not be a thing and needed to be highlighted. |

When the Nanomachines harden just right

I do have to say one thing regarding promotion of the show: people really aren't doing that great of a job of it (myself included). Nowhere is this more evident than in how the twitchcon event was handled. You can say all you want about the twitch chat (yep, it sucked), but I don't think that was the main problem that the event had. I think that the main problem was that it didn't really get the point of VGCW across to the average show attendee who might be watching on the show floor. Now, as a fan of VGCW, I thought the match and promo were pretty great, but that wasn't made to appeal to me, it was made to appeal to potential fans. I think it's a fair observation to make that people weren't exactly "wowed" by the showing that was made, considering that while the attendance of people watching was around 40k, our current average viewership was roughly 500 people, and it continues to remain that low even after twitchcon. I think that the twitch con match needed 1 or 2 commentators (Sorry King/Cole, you don't quite cut it in terms of commentating) to say "Hi, I'm going to explain what VGCW is to all of you, and you can watch this cool match going on the background too!". This not only should have applied to twitchcon, but to any future events that VGCW might be a part of (crossing my fingers VGCW gets into twitchcon 2016!). I'm sure that the show would attract a lot more people at these events if we had say, 1 or 2 of the show runners there to provide commentary. |

I realize it was out of your control, but the promo fight not having people nobody knows might have hurt it as well. The next time VGCW gets a chance like that it needs to feature the actual talent. |

Well since your looking for feedback TOH, I don't think I can offer anything illuminating or profound, but I will try to. First off I will parrot what everyone else has been saying about the need to spread the word about the show, but I think the way we should go about doing that is trying to get more shout outs on things like podcasts or just from other internet personalities. Hell the only reason I knew that VGCW existed was because of the Best Friends Zaibatsu and Zubaz's victory at Star Road 2. I'm not saying we should appeal to them with niche wrestlers, but just contacting people and be like "He you like wrestling and video games, we have a show about wrestling videogames." As for the twitch stream, I made a joke with the Arena crew about how the stream crowd would have been more hyped to have Buck Bumble on stream and I just being a smartass, but now I think that would have been true. The way I see it, the problem wasn't the match or the crowd persay (as bad as it was) it was being "too inside baseball". I watch stuff on twitch a lot and I had no idea who or what any of the wrestlers were on the stream and it was not until I asked the question someone told me who they were. In hindsight, the match should have been an opportunity to show off some of the best CAWs that VGCW had to show in terms of design and not necessarily in terms of their talent, but again hindsight is always 20/20. |

More sizzle than a rasher of bacon.

I would have lobbied for VGCW people, but I wasn't involved in the initial "negotiations" so it was mostly out of my hands at that point. We did the trailer after as an effort to try to bring it back to what VGCW was about, but it didn't work out. Another shot at TwitchCon would be cool, though I found out it'll be the same weekend as my best friend's wedding, soooooooo... |

I can't watch on Tuesdays due to work (it's the only night I can't watch), so with the other shows filling the Tuesday timeslot for a month and a half after Christmas and rarely anything on the Thursday/Friday/Saturday slots I--don't want to say I lost interest, but I did stop checking since the answer to the question of "is there a show I can watch this week?" was nearly always "no." I still watch the youtubes religiously, but even with the twitch chats recorded it's not quite the same in terms of community.

I think there's too much emphasis placed on somehow getting back old viewers rather than just constantly churning in new ones. If they're not watching, chances are it had more to do with ephemeral interest rather than thinking the show died with Bazza or disliking the new show's format. For your Netflixes and your WWENetworks and such, everything's about healthy churn rate, and even though VGCW isn't a subscription service it has basically the same model. If we can somehow get 1000 new people watching in a night and only 2% stick around, hey, that's 20 more viewers than we had. So I'd go full media blast. Don't pour too much effort into any one particular venture, just straight up bombard people on Twitter and Instagram and Tumblr and Twitch and what-the-hell ever with gifs that are likely to catch their attention. The Falcon cage Superkick and the WarioWare intros spring to mind. And also yell at/conscript people here to do this because if they tell two friends etc. Edited by GirthIgnorer, Feb 24 2016, 11:16 PM.

I do agree with this idea, but I'd amend it to say don't use gifs involving retired or off roster wrestlers. If a group of new guys comes on the show for, say, seeing that WarioWare Inc. entrance gif and find out that Wario's not here anymore, they might feel a bit cheated. Also, I feel like I should put this out there: TwitchCon isn't the only game in town. PAX, MagFest, ComiCon, etc. All of these places have thousands of people attend every year, and if we can get a spot at TwitchCon, why not these other conventions? I know the TwitchCon thing didn't go as well for us as we would've hoped, but since these cons are A) more focused on video games and B) don't have meme characters attached to them (or at least not as much as TwitchCon does), it could do wonders more for us than TC did. We tried to submit a MAGFest panel last year but got turned down. Didn't really bother this year and we kinda wanted to use it as more of a break from life and all that than a chance to spread VGCW. PAX is pretty much covered by PAX's own game industry wrestling fed which is its own beast. I'd like to get involved with it, but I don't see how VGCW could work into it terribly well. |

Maybe try to enter the PAX Rumble representing VGCW with one of the No Mercy CAWs you used during the GameShark match? I doubt it'd work, but it might be a thought.

Maybe, maybe. I don't have any direct connections to the guys who run it, but maybe there's a way through Giant Bomb through Bazza? I'll have to ask. I do plan to be at PAX East and PAXAMANIA's certainly on my schedule. |
