Honestly, the @home stuff that's been used isn't exactly complicated. If anyone new knows the slightest thing about wrestling, it's not exactly far fetched. A new guy can be brought up to speed just by saying "Mama and Duke are in a relationship." That's really the only thing that's been used to a full extent, and I don't want to hear any damn suggestions that we stop that because it's the best thing that Duke has had going for him since his title shot.

While I understand how at-home jokes can be confusing, they're no more or less confusing than any of the other characterization choices made in VGCW with no direct connection to the original video games.

We may as well have Guile stop being a heel, Dan stop being effective, Dracula stop being a former GM, Gary stop speaking at all...you get the point. Characterization of otherwise flat characters is half the reason VGCW is great, and the WHOLE reason VGCW started in the first place (Corporate Champ Little Mac).

I don't have time to watch any of the shows except VGCW proper anymore, but the in-jokes have never really bothered me. The only one specific to VGCW I can think of is Mama-Duke and it really doesn't take too much to wrap your mind around so I doubt anyone was run out by that. Don't think it's really relevant to the current discussion of promoting the show.

Now on THAT subject, fuck yeah what that guy said last page, Royal Rumbles. I totally appreciate why you don't want to do Royal Rumbles every day but it lets you show off a huge part of the roster and the matches are always hype. I don't think there's a better advertisement for VGCW than a rumble, so I'd rather risk over-using them than under-using them, especially since you can have them have different stakes/numbers of dudes/etc.

I feel like the Once-a-Season royal rumble was a good pattern.
A rumble per season, generally after the first PPV.
It was practical too, because usually at that point we had spent a while building up some challanger for the PPV to take on the title, and then after the PPV the rumble would allow the topcard to sort itself a bit for names to pop up for a contendership.

40-Man Royal Rumble often takes 40 minutes to 1 hour. Maybe shorter Rumble with less contestant, (20-Man, 30-Man), can be used for different purposes.

Casual Title? Meaningless but cool rewards like 'King of the Beach'? 'For funsies' as one man once said?

That would be less a way to get more people to come though, and more just a way to get more rumbles 'cuz rumbles are fun. Which is fine.

This isn't so much of a criticism as it is a suggestion to be used in the future. Remember when we had that stipulation a few seasons back where whoever eliminated #20 in a rumble would get a title shot too? What if we did something where whoever eliminates the most in a rumble will get a title shot too?

I agree that the rumble stipulation is great., but would run into the problem if there was a tie. Though there could be a runoff match, which would be cool.

Whoever tied would then face each other in a match.

I've always supported this idea for rumbles, since it means that just because you don't enter within the last 7 entrants or so doesn't mean you automatically lose, and helps keep us glued to the rumble.

I'm not saying to cut any of it, just that it might be best to limit the nods to what's already there. A lot of the previous discussions were about what new viewers might find daunting or difficult to watch in the archives or read up on. After reading Max's post it occurred to me that the recent At Home stuff may be some of the (very) few examples of something that might be tough to follow. If a new viewer wants to see what happened, the wiki and the like don't really have the resources to make seeing those highlights firsthand very easy, though I checked and the episodes themselves are indeed linked there. Speaking of which, as an aside episodes 6, 7, 11, 12, and 13 are all copyright blocked in the US, and 6 and 7's mirrors have also been hit. Thanks Victor Entertainment.

Duke and Cooking Mama and the brief Table-san comment are the only ones truly on a show (and the latter may prove to be a one-off like Terra's monster truck), so right now the ball is more in chat's court about Waluigi boning tables and such. It's really more of a "for the future" suggestion than anything, as it's fine now in the shows.

So I showed one of my friends VGCW and the very first thing he said (apart from "Who's that?" or "Hey, it's X!") was "Why are no commentators? They need to have commentary."

Take that however you will.

Tell him we tried that and it didn't work out.

The Commentary is the chat, essentially. If you ask the chat a question you'll generally receive the awnser form around 10 people all caps.

Even if the question is "What's happening?" and the awnser is
"WRES!
WRES!
WRES!"

More sizzle than a rasher of bacon.
Commentary's impossible for a live VGCW show. The only one who can actually discuss what's happening on the screen with proper timing and all is me, and I'm already distracted by setting up music, organizing plot videos, etc. Only way to get true commentary is to go recorded, and many people don't want to see it go that direction.

I'll 100% agree that VGCW needs to stay Live.
I recognize the advantages of recorded matches, but part of the appeal is "Anything can happen in VGCW!"
Without Red Mode, without Geif Screwed Geif, without Octocamo, or the Glitch Bomb, or any of this, VGCW just wouldn't be the same.
