I think the Mika situation could be rectified a bunch if it isn't the curtain jerk. I know the jerk streak is only a kayfabe thing but it would feel a lot more like a novelty match if there's little stakes on the line instead of one where there isn't a winning situation to the audience.

Falcon/Ezio would be the perfect jerk anyways, assuming it's happening. |

Oooh yes, especially considering the last time they fought was for Falcon to convince Ezio not to quit. Now Ezio can return the favor, in a way. It's the best possible match-up for Falcon. Edited by Kingault, Jun 16 2016, 07:50 PM.

A lot of people are concerned about the Mika vs. Zangief match being for the streak...so couldn't an easy solution be to not have it be for the streak at all? Zangief pretty much saved himself this season by stepping the fuck up in his match, so I don't think it's time for him to leave yet. Have the two face each other, and whoever wins or loses, Gief can be like "My fighting spirit is revitalized thanks to this amazing fight! Thanks Mika!" And then next season can focus on the Iron Curtain Jerk and the eventual conqueror. EDIT: Beaten by Nap like Shadaloo.

Going by current storyline, Ezio vs Blood Falcon seems obvious, but with Ezio wanting answers out of Falcon, I think it should be later in the card.

You could have Ezio vs Falcon in the jerk and have him get answers later. People are already pretty down on Falcon in general, so I think low on the card would be for the best. Either that or stick them in a six-man tag match. Ezio/Salvation Ops vs Falcon/Asura/Flint. Edited by Rhonne, Jun 16 2016, 08:20 PM.

...Are we honestly complaining that ZANGIEF isn't getting enough of a push? The guy who has had a guaranteed match on each PPV for several seasons? The guy who's had plot scenes on almost every episode this season? The guy who despite being the epitome of average to mediocre in the ring has an apparent rub-worthy streak? (Yes, I know you all know that I hate Gief, but objectively, the man has been in the middle of a large push this season, and isn't getting in a contender's match because he's being built for something with Mika and the fact that he's been completely unable to win outside of said curtainjerk for several seasons.) |

Hol' up. So you be sayin' that Gief's some sort of overpushed wrestler 'n shit? Gief most certainly has not been guaranteed any sort of PPV record. He got his jerk against Haggar at Blood Money, but appeared at Mega Evolution in a rumble, and everyone appeared in the rumbles so if you're really gonna try and count that against him I'm gonna go get my "555-COME-ON-NOW" reaction image. Additionally, he didn't get a match on Infinite Summer, either, but rather a rumble spot. Depending on how far back "several seasons" has gone, Zangief didn't appear at all for the Challenge Tower PPV in Season 10, and that was still the Bazza Era (thumbs up) where he was being ironically pushed. As for the plot, Zangief has appeared in plot a total five times this season. To date, we've had thirteen episodes of VGCW. So Gief has appeared in approximately 38% of episodes this season. I'd hardly consider 38% to be "almost every episode", to be honest. As for his match quality, people in general have agreed that it has improved immensely, perhaps as a result of the switch between consoles. To give you just a little bit of insight from the Gief thread itself on how people currently feel about Zangief, most certainly in reference to his work in the ring:
And most importantly:
I guess that means at least four people like him! Spoiler: click to toggle

Just because he shows up doesn't mean a push. It's like saying Zack Ryder is getting pushed because on RAW more. Zangief isn't getting rewarded for winning his matches, and getting the crowd behind him like never before. And yeah Gief v Asura happened like 3 days ago man. |

I still think that saying "Mika gets nothing from beating Zangief" is false. Just because she's on a different show, doesn't mean she couldn't leverage a win against Zangief into some kind of big push in WVGCW. And saying that Gief would lose all momentum from one loss just means you don't really have that much faith in him to begin with. |

The reverse can also true, i mean it's not because she's from another show, beating someone that doesn't compete in WV, will help her in any form. |

Wouldn't that be kind of unfair to the rest of WVGCW that because Mika was afforded a unique opportunity she gets more chips at the table? Also, it's not that people are concerned about Gief losing all momentum; it's that Gief actually has some momentum for once and all it takes is one loss to hit the wall hard. Just look at Haggar when he lost to Ganon. |

I don't think that fighting Gief should be used as leverage for a contendership/title shot in WV, but I do think that it can help to establish her as legitimate. Since her debut in WV, we haven't seen much of Mika in action, so her coming back and being told she's a big deal would be confusing for anyone that doesn't remember her run in EDBW. However, saying that R.Mika faced VGCW legend Zangief (in hopefully a really good match), win or lose, shows that she's definitely a fighter and willing to mix it up with anyone in the ring. This gives Mika something to work off of for next WV season instead of just coming back and being like "Hey, I'm a wrestler, everyone, I swear." It doesn't have to be for the streak, and it doesn't have to be for Gief's career. It just needs to be in-ring storytelling and character establishment. That's what makes these shows so much fun: when the "game knows" and builds the story for everyone. No need to force an impression when a natural one would be even better.

As a lover of Zangief and a guy who has been pretty meh about how wordy he's gotten in the R. Mika scenes, I'm fine with the novelty of an R. Mika curtain jerk. It reinforces the idea that things should first and foremost be fun, and nobody should take anything too seriously. If he wins, though, yeah. He should be given contendership consideration. Zangief insidiously pushing to get a VGCW title match booked as the curtain jerker just to give him an edge is some plot I would very much like to see. |
