VGCW Season 11 Character Evaluations; Welcome to the Attitohde Era

Welcome back. Five months ago, we ended Bazza's era, and with the new showrunner unknown, I wrote out my evaluations of how everyone had done, heading into the new era. And once again, we're at the end of a season, off the wild ride that was Endgame X1. Just like last time, I'll be doing five or so every other day, going right up the power rankings, to see who's thrived in the new environment, and who's.. ho boy. I'll try to stay unbiased, but no promises. Okay, maybe longer than every other day because no one's updating the wiki anymore.

Season 10 Thread

I'll start with a few words about the four we've lost this season and our unranked Tag Champs.

Retired: Little Mac

Retired: Wario

Fighting Forever: Segata Sanshiro

Left Behind: Donkey Kong

Unranked: The Dragons

Always enjoy reading these. This season has had even more swings than usual with the change from Bazza to TOH, so a recap will be real interesting.

Well, the Dragons haven't defended against Sonic and Knuckles, or the Fuckheads yet. So there is still hope!

56: Captain Falcon

55: Kefka Palazzo

54: Doctor Albert Wily

Falcon had a shitty season but it's lame to say he hasn't improved when in the one singles match he got this season he was a move away from beating Phoenix of all people. I disagree that he needed to go away for his own good, since that to me is enough evidence he could have beaten other people. And if he comes back and loses during this plot it's no different really.

The amount of bias between the Falcon write-up and the Wily write-up is really apparent. I know that this is supposed to be a character evaluation, but it more so feels like a VGCW roster opinion thread. Which is fine, but the title of the thread and the WVGCW Character Evaluation threads show what things should be. One thing I do like in the WVGCW Character Evaluations thread is how Notty posts some optimism or how well someone attempted to be in their loss if they're in the lowcard.

Could you tone down the bias if you can? It's making it hard to really take this thread seriously as an evaluation thread and not just "haha this person sucks but this other person's really good!".

Enhancement talent is a necessary thing.

Okay, I get that people are really defensive of Falcon, but I'm not going to sugarcoat the fact that he's had a really bad first half of the season, and then vanished for half a season. ...And he's had a bad season 10. And a bad season 9. And a bad season 8.

The reason for the difference in tones between Wily and Falcon is simple. One got a revamp, pushed himself, and has actually won matches and looked better than he's been since LAST GAME, while breaking his own poor streak. Hell, people are seriously considering Wily for a casual title shot if he can get another good win. Did anyone think that would ever happen? The other got a caw revamp, came up short, and broke an entirely different streak at the same time, while his partner, who was also well known for doing poorly has turned his career around entirely in one season and has established himself firmly in the upper midcard.

I will admit, that new Falcon has potential, and yes, there is no shame in losing to Phoenix. But his record is just one choke after another, and the fact that he vanished for half a season instead of fighting to restore his reputation for fear that the fans might turn on him just doesn't leave anything to be optimistic about.

EDIT: As Cran said, enhancement talent is a necessary thing, but I'm just not sure Falcon can survive as enhancement talent unlike the rest of the people in the lower card, like say, Kefka or Zubaz.

For me, it's not even so much as being defensive about a character but more so the shift in writing.

I get that you flat out don't like the guy and don't want to remain optimistic about someone because it's been proven that the guy hasn't won enough to "keep his spot", but there's some sort of unwritten rule of keeping levelheaded about people when it comes to evaluating them. Like, bringing up that someone's not doing well in their career now is fine with a subtle mention to their performance. But saying "Oh Ebisu's not doing well and if I was talking roster cuts, he'd be high up there" is pretty bad. Saying something like "Ebisumaru's not what he used to be and needs to kick things into high gear." is better because it implicates that yeah this person's not doing well, but he could try to be as good as before.

I dunno, this is just my opinion so whatever. Much like how this thread is just your opinion.

Thoughts:

Falcon - Falcon hasn't had a good past 3-4 seasons. That much is clear. I hope this new-found character (and assumed buff) will be a good thing for him, but he NEEDS to follow Kefka's advice and win the matches.

Kefka - Boy, you didn't have a lot of luck in the ring the latter half of the season, eh? However, you are entertaining as hell enhancement talent, and the best ringside reporter in the business. Keep it up Kefka, but, like Falcon, win the matches.

Wily - YOU WON A SINGLES MATCH! Good for you! You also had success in gimmick matches, and aren't as fragile as before. Keep this up Wily for the World Tour

Ebisumaru - Boy, you have not had the best 2 seasons, have you? You're losing fan support, and you lost all your matches in season 11. Need to start winning the matches for people to care about you, and maybe be a little less joke-y. Oh yeah, and avoid Goemon.

Demoman - Oh boy. The transition from Extreme Dudebro Wrestling to Video Game Championship Wrestling wasn't good for you to say the least. Upsides is that they were gimmick matches, and you have a TON of fan support. Essentially, win the matches, Travis.

Kind of a common recurring theme throughout this bunch, in that they need to start winning (with the exception of Wily, do your thing).
