Okay, I will fully admit that the roster cut line in the Ebisu writeup was kinda dumb, and probably shouldn't have been there, but it's been hard to get off my mind, seeing as we just lost DK and Segata, the former of whom I never thought would get cut. |

In fairness, DK and Segata have real accolades and longer careers. To me, the idea of trimming someone who has simply honestly never achieved anything feels really daft. Not that it hasn't or will not happen, that's just kind of how I feel about that in these shows. |

Yeah, Ebisu shouldn't be cut, at least now. Although if Ebisu has another winless season, that may be a cause for concern, especially with his fan support slowly dwindling. |

My thoughts: - Falcon. Falcon's had a hard life but I don't feel he's on danger of being cut since he's still popular with the crowd and Birds of Prey was kinda popular too. Guess we'll have to see how this Blood Falcon business pans out though. This season should be crucial for him since he'll probably be in the spotlight. - Kefka. Kefka's been stuck in the same spot for a while. He's mostly a jobber but sometimes gets surprising wins. He's so good in Kefka's Korner that nobody minds and whenever he comes out and wins it's hilarious. His taunts seem to hold him back a bit, I can see him being Casual material with some fixes. - Wily. Wily's similar to Kefka IMO, being stuck in the same spot for many seasons. He's way too popular to be cut but in my opinion he doesn't add that much to the roster as a wrestler. At least he won a match this season so, who knows, maybe I'm wrong. - Ebisumaru. Ebisu had a strong debut and has been faltering a bit lately. His reaction from the chat is pretty funny though so I hope he stays. At least he's getting a chance to shine in ridiculous plot with Vegeta and Nappa. - Demoman. It's been rough for most newcomers lately. Plenty of them debut with losses and few manage to leave a strong mark right away. Kanji is one of the few I can think of who's been doing well, even with rough losses against Sabin and Ganondorf. I'm giving Demoman the benefit of the doubt and, at the very least, his personality is funny. One thing I noticed this season is that there haven't been many super dominant wrestlers lately so almost everyone has some surprising loss in their record. Even some older monsters like Bowser and Phoenix have been getting worse records than usual. The card hasn't stabilized in a while, with the topcard changing a lot, which is cool but also scary for the wrestlers that lose more often. |

"Though his two singles matches were best described as massacres" The main takeaway from his match with Reyn was how Zubaz managed to look like a convincing threat while still putting the newer guy over. "Squashed" is the very last thing I'd use to describe that match. |

and his match with Dan was...just a bad match, really. Poor Baz got his finisher reversed, and it was just kinda low-pace the whole way though. |

There's a good reason Baz is nominated for Most Under-Appreciated in the Slammy thread. They weren't bad and the weren't one sided massacres. They solid matches that made the opponent look good, which was the point of both of the matches with Dan and Reyn. He could have beaten Dan and he should have won the tables match, but alas rejected again. He's just been really really unlucky. Previous case like this I can think of at the moment was Ezio, and look where he is now. Edited by BAH GAWD KANG, Dec 8 2015, 07:39 PM.

Okay, a case can be made for the Reyn fight being closer than Cole let on, but Baz got put down pretty much immediately after his comeback -> sig -> finisher chain, The Dan fight, though? Dan did to Zubaz what DK would turn around and do to him a few episodes later. I mean, Baz's job is losing, that's kind of his thing, and no one really begrudges him that. But hey, he's getting good at tables matches. |

Sounds Like A Bodacious Time

Vyse just had bad luck and got extremely fucked by the GameShark. He had by far the worst match of the season (in my opinion) for no fault of his own as his singles debut. Luckily, wrestlers with poor debuts historically have gone on to do some pretty great things (Duke, Guile, Red, Dong). Demo, Baz, Vyse and even Ebi (barely, I think me thinking Season 7 is "new blood" is a testament to the lack of call-ups in seasons 7-8) have time to regain ground. Also remember Ebi was in a VGCW championship match not too long ago. He also is the only (male) wrestler to reliably pull off the Twerksault and as long as he can do that he has endless job security. |

I think you were too rough on Captain Falcon. Something to keep in mind is that his long struggles and nine Singles losses all came before the Full Logo Powers debuted this Season. Immediate success would be needed to break that streak, but he's clearly different from his old self who had that streak. While you're right that Falcon has himself to blame for what happened against Phoenix Wright, you need to keep in mind the entire context of that match -- Falcon was dominating Phoenix Wright until the Boost Power fiasco. No one had looked that mighty against Wright, the epitome of looking strong even in defeat, in over a year. Falcon would have eaten Nick alive if he didn't all but choose to screw himself over. It was heartbreaking, yes, but not nearly enough to kill the guy's career. As for the title match, the Dragons are really good and sort of shut down all of their competitors this Season. That doesn't explain away everything in that match, but it is a major factor in this situation. As for Wily, while his Singles career is on an uptick at last, he has struggled a bit in tags this Season. I see that you've implemented NottyRose's Singles and Tags status system in your most recent post and think that it's a great decision, as it better describes cases like the current Wily one. Regarding Vyse, fighting Air Man was just unfortunate overall considering that the robot has long been a beast and went on to become half of Iron Blue Intention at EGX1. Also, the shove appears to have been a Signature, not the normal move. I get what you mean about the appearance of it though, and the Wily loss was indeed rough. You've got all December, so feel free to take your time writing these. You kind of seem like you're in a rush what with the under construction post up there. Don't fret over this. I just got interrupted while working on Waluigi's post and didn't feel like browsing the doc for all his matches again. /effort But yeah, I admit it, I don't like Falcon, and the relentless insistence that he's totally the next VGCW champion (/hyperbole) gives me flashbacks to the mess that was season 8 Ezio, which kinda soured me on both of them. And I kinda get a biiiit overly passionate over it. I'll try to tone it down regarding him. ...Also man, Vyse really got a rough draw for his debut. Every other debut has gotten low carders like Wily, Kefka, and Baz. Vyse gets a killer robot. Poor guy. |

If it makes you feel better, I'm not a fan of Falcon either, though I was fine with him as enhancement talent. Looks like the TOH crew has some potential plans for him next season though, which could be interesting. I never got why anyone wanted Falcon to be anything more than enhancement talent. The dude even LOOKS like a jobber straight out of the 80s. Then again, I am a hater. Edited by GirthIgnorer, Dec 9 2015, 04:33 PM.

It's tough. I like the IDEA of Falcon, and I enjoyed him before he went on a historically bad tear of losses. But if Blood Falcon isn't just regular Captain Falcon turned heel or something along those lines, then that would make three complete revamps in 2K14 alone. A lot of people get one chance and they're gone. Some, like Tingle, don't get any! So it definitely seems imbalanced in the amount of care Falcon gets in trying to repeatedly resuscitate his career multiple times over. If people get impatient before the second chance even happens, then it's really unfair when one guy gets a 4th.
