Remember last year when we were excited for this?
|
Sabin's theme vs Gief's theme is kind of a weird matchup, as I'm not really a huge fan of either of them. I'll give the edge to Sabin here though. Gief's theme is just too plain. While I'd like to see something with more energy used for Sabin (something that's not ANY version of Figaro Castle, but at this point I know that's what we're working with), it wins for me. Sonic vs Drac - Dracula, no contest. Drac's theme hitting has always been an "Oh shit" moment, just like Ganon's. I (thankfully?) haven't played any of the late model Sonic games, so there really isn't a ton of familiarity for me. It takes me a bit to recognize Sonic's theme, and I'm sure a part of that comes from him having so many of them over the years. |

Nothing will ever match the magic of hearing Zangief's theme following the VGCW intro. Being knocked down a notch to a theme that isn't a rap is a severe handicap on Sabin in my opinion, so point goes to Zangief. Sonic's entrance still works me like the huge mark I am, you're a fast fucking character, DO A FAST ENTRANCE YOU LITTLE SHIT. Dracula without the soundbite would make this choice a lot closer, but that puts it over the edge. Point to Dracula. |

Gief. It's classic. Minimalist but there's nothing wrong with that. Sonic's theme works well with his entrance, but we're not judging overall entrances, so the SOTN oh shit moment stinger gives it to my boy Dracula. |

Even if Sabin had the rap(gross), I'd still give the nod to Zangief regardless. As soon as you hear the first 3 seconds of it, the dread kicks in. Plus, it's easier to dignify who it belongs to. Poor Sonic not going over in this is sad because It Doesn't Matter is a really fucking good song as an entrance theme, but the soundclip that Dracula has puts him over. Oh well. I still give my vote to Sonic. Also preemptive rest in fucking peace for Phoenix Wright when his part of the bracket comes up for voting. Edited by DesuBlade, Dec 9 2015, 10:44 AM.

Sabin vs. Zangief: Sabin: even without the rap, his theme is able to get me to know who is coming out unlike Zangief's which sounds bland. Sonic vs. Dracula: Dracula: the fact that Sonic comes out to the weaker version of "It Doesn't Matter" (The Sonic Adventures 2 one) doesn't help him at all against Dracula's theme with a hook that is not out of place in a real wrestling theme with the "WHAT IS A MAN?" quote. |

I know that. What I meant is that I prefer the Sonic Adventure 2 version and I think that the Sonic Adventure 1 version is really weak as an entrance theme. |

Sabin wins. Mostly because I'm biased towards FFVI. In fact, entirely because I'm biased towards FFVI. I don't miss the rap, but as I said in Sabin's thread, the rap is much better suited as a champion entrance or a victory song. Dracula wins. If Sonic still had the SatAM intro or the SA2 version of It Doesn't Matter, this could well have been his round. However, Drac not only has his infamous line at the start of his just before he appears, but a great version of his Rondo of Blood battle theme. |

NOPE.

Gief and Drac. Both Sabin and Gief's themes are pretty bad, so I don't think either are getting far. But at least Gief's intro signals "oh fuck guys, Zangief" pretty easily. Sabin's is sloooooooooooow assssssssssssss molassessssssss, and the rap isn't any better although at least it thematically fit when he was champ Still not really happy with the Sonic changes, but even his old theme would've been blown out by Dracula's entrance here. |

Gief and Drac. I miss the old Sonic theme, it fit his personality to a tee. I think the intention is to play him a bit closer to how he is in actual Sonic fiction but that's pretty meh. Something about Sonic the Hedgehog being a smarmy dick was just really funny to me. |

Guile did nothing wrong

I like this new orchestral one better than the original and the rap, but I still have to give it to Gief mainly due to it having a better intro for a wrestling theme And Drac's is obviously the winner between him and Sonic |
