Bowser has the complete package with his theme, entrance, and in-ring ability while Falcon feels like he's all theme.

I love how distinct Travis' theme music is. It's just so weird and different compared to most others on the roster whereas I really don't get anything out of Ezio's theme. It's just more incidental music to me.

TIme for a mini-rant, so TL;DR: Travis and Bowser.

Ezio's theme has a problem that's honestly a problem with a lot of modern, Western games' music: It's good, yes...but it's not memorable. They try too hard to be these big, cinematic scores without realizing what makes music in games work and why music in movies is a certain way. Video game music too often becomes just a backdrop, as it is in movies, when it can be (And often is/was) the driving action of the game or scene. It sounds good, but there's no hook, no memorable central melody, nothing to get stuck in your head and make you hum the song later while you think of the game.

Looking just through the lens of Pro Wrestling, it's important that a wrestler's theme be memorable as a song. It needs to be like a jingle for a product, when you think the product/wrestler, you think of the song and vice versa. In order for that to happens, it needs to be catchy.

Look at some real life examples:
How does Stone Cold's theme go? DUN NA DUN NA NA! BWAAAAH!
How does the Rock's theme go? DUN! DUN DUN! DA DA DUN! DA DA DUN DUN DUN!

You can get the melody for those songs in your head like the melody of a commercial jingle, and just thinking of that series of notes and beats makes you think of this wrestler. And a lot of VGCW themes seem to get that. The bombastic bass of Bowser's theme is catchy and simple. Falcon's arrange theme is an energetic, riff driven remix of the familiar Mute City theme, which again is catchy and simple. Travis gets a little complicated, but even then, the main "No More Her-oes! It's Kill! Or Be Killed!" hook of the song is enough to drive it even if the rest is a bit messy and Engrishy.

Ezio's theme is a good song, mind you...but it's not catchy. I can't find the central melody or riff because it changes so many times. It takes like 10 seconds to warm up, but once it does, it goes into a completely different melody right after that. I don't feel like the part that is actually his theme starts until about a minute in and by that time, Ezio's entrance is basically done. Again, it's a good song! But it doesn't work as a wrestling theme in the slightest. It lacks really everything that makes a song, both as a track in a video game and a song to enter the ring to, memorable.

Remember last year when we were excited for this?
Bowser and Travis for me.

Despite Bowser's performance in the ring not looking quite so dominant, his theme will really get you hyped up for a match. Falcon's theme is good too, but he suffers a bit from swapping themes a few times recently.

Ezio's got a good theme, but it doesn't really peak at the right time in his entrance. It also reminds me of the Major Nelson podcast back when I used to primarily be on 360 (He used the original AC2 version of that theme for his podcast for a long time.) Travis' theme on the other hand just has a better energy and fits the Wres format a lot better.

Bowser vs. Falcon: Bowser: Does a great job selling the uh-oh factor of knowing that The King of Awesome is coming to beat you to a pulp.

Travis vs. Ezio: Travis: Not a fan of either one's theme but Travis is one I can tell who it is just by the music unlike Ezio's.

Bowser beats Falcon. Do I like the "Show me your moves!" sound clip? Yes I do. However, I actually kind of preferred the Melee and SSB4 versions of Mute City over the current theme. Bowser on the other hand has got a theme that's almost tailor-made for his intro. Sorry, Captain, but I'm hailing to the King of Awesome.

Ezio beats Travis, but only barely. I like Travis more than Ezio as a character, and I like No More Heroes, but not having a clue what [WORDS] are meant to be is a turnoff for me. Ezio's theme is good, but I can see it getting eliminated somewhere down the line in this tournament.

Captain Falcon
F-Zero tunes are pretty good on the whole, and even though I don't think his current theme is my favourite one that he's had, it's still damn good. It's fast and exciting, which is good for Falcon, even if you can't really represent the idea of continuous failure through the medium of music too well. Bowser's suits him too really well and it's more iconic to VGCW than Mute City, but as a tune it's pretty basic. The drums and treble line are pretty neat, but it's just not as good as the Mute City remix as a complete tune.

Travis Touchdown
I really like Ezio's theme to begin with. It's sombre, mysterious and it has a nice melody, but it suited him better when he was the miserable loser than right now. It's just a touch too melancholic as a theme for this new and improved Ezio who's having the time of his life, and in general it might be a little downbeat for wrestling. Still good though. Travis' theme is among my favourites around right now and I think it's got everything. It's upbeat, catchy and suitable, which makes it a good wrestling theme, and having a little extra swing and syncing to the entrance is a big bonus. The whole "unintelligible lyrics" thing has never bothered me, so long as you don't want to read any deep meaning into the song (which shouldn't be necessary in this case,) it's just another part of the tune. I am super into shoegaze though so that's not really a surprise. I'd hate to see how some of you react to music where you're not even supposed to understand the lyrics :^)
But yeah, Travis' theme is great, Japanese lounge music is great, that's all I got to say about it.

Hmm, tricky picks...

First of all, I'm going with Bowser. The King of Awesome knows exactly how to set the tone when he comes out-some simple drum and bass beats, followed by a melody that sounds like it's laughing at whatever poor fop he has to go up against. Falcon's theme is fine, but as many people have pointed out, it takes a good long while for it to be recognizable in any way.

Second round goes to Travis Touchdown. It's Kill or Be Killed just gets me pumped as fuck, makes me want to go for a jog and stuff. Unintelligible lyrics have never been a problem for me, especially since I can usually get it after listening to it enough times (Still working on fully getting his theme mind you, but still). Elio's theme is pretty great to, it just got a really bad draw against Travis.

Bowser and Travis.

When Bowser's theme starts picking up and he starts dancing in the ring it always syncs real nice with everything. That and I just love that theme. With the car and everything it just works. Falcon's theme is pretty good too but I gotta give the edge to Bowser.

Travis because pretty much it's great get hype for this wrestler music. Nothing much else to say.

Gonna have to go with Bowser and Travis. I have a question, though. Why isn't this entire thing being done through Straw Poll? Don't you think that'd make all of this way easier?

I explained this before. It's an effort to inspire discussion. Also I think hearing each person's opinion individually is more interesting.

Bowser for set 1. It's a good cover of Mute City, I'll admit, definitely energetic. I love when the pyro goes off right before the main melody kicks in. But Bowser exceeds that just in tone and theme. Bowser's initial drum beats are just like a punch to the face. All of the energy of the previous intro is just immediately thrown out the window. And Bowser ALWAYS enters the ring second unless he's announced to already wrestle on the card. It ALWAYS is emblematic of 'OH SHIT IT'S BOWSER'. It transcends just being good music or sync music, and becomes emblematic not of just Bowser the character, but Bowser the VGCW wrestler, and what he means to the league. And then he just starts partying as it devolves into a kind of chaotic melody. Bowser does not simply enter the ring. He owns the ring when he comes into it.

Ezio gets my vote for the second. I agree that I dislike the orchestrated backing of most current western games. However, I don't think that Ezio's family - and by extent, Venice Rooftops's SCV remix - fall victim to that. I really like the progression of the instruments. I LIKE that the theme only really starts when Ezio is visible amongst the crowd. Travis I love the intro of, but he just loses me after 'It's Kill or Be Killed'. Which is weird, I love the NMH2 version of the song, just not the VGCW cut. It loses a lot of good acoustic string work in the process, even if it helps with his sync, and I really feel the stronger instrumentation helps the song in its original form. Ezio flows just right from invisible to THERE HE IS to entering the ring, makes me feel good to see him the whole way through.

Sounds Like A Bodacious Time
Voting for Bowser for the same reason I voted for Dracula. It's high energy, it really feels like a presence is entering the ring. Very high tempo and badass. It feels like a real theme a wrestler would enter to during the Attitude Era. F-Zero X is my favorite OST ever, and I feel like he's entering to the least hype song on the Soundtrack. Mute City is probably the most associated song with the character so it's understandable, but I feel like he should enter to something to much more fast-paced and hype. Crazy Call at Cry is my choice because it's the Port Town theme and that's where Falcon is from. But yeah, I love F-Zero music but Mute City is probably my least favorite song in the series.
Gotta go with Travis. I barely even notice Ezio's music, and KIRR OR BE KIRRED is one of my favorite Vidya songs ever so it's a no-brainer for me.

For the second time now themes I love just get tough competition.

Falcon's music is really energetic, it's a fantastic remix and it makes it clear who the performer is. It gets you hyped up for a fast exciting match. Bowser's though has an aura and a history many themes can't beat. Vote to the King of Awesome

I just love No More Heroes so biased vote to Travis.
