The Sweetest Sting

You know, while I understand the significance of Break Man's theme, "Prepare Yourself" just works so damn well for a wrestling theme. When you hear "PREPARE YOURSELF" and the crowd goes wild, you know you're going to witness something special. And on top of that, the song gives Cage his own personal announcer, which is absolutely perfect. The song perfectly encapsulates Johnny Cage. Cockiness, ego, but undeniable hype as well. So yeah, gotta give the vote to Johnny Cage. For third place, I'm voting Armstrong Edited by PunkBoy, Jan 4 2016, 09:16 PM.

Break Man's theme is a good song, a great way of showing his character, and easily one of the better entrance themes of any wrestler. But Johnny Cage's has a magic to it. A way of immediately signifying from the moment it starts that you're about to see something incredible. It's showy and flashy and up it's own ass in the most charming way. It is as much a part of the character of Johnny Cage as the CAW, I think even more so than Break Man's is. No other theme in any show has the same captivating power, the same way of commanding your attention as Johnny Cage's. I have to vote for Johnny Cage |

What a difficult finale. Break Man's theme, "The Stand", definitely has more personal perspective and detail than Johnny Cage's "Prepare Yourself". It sums up a huge chunk of his career, Season 8 in particular, and became more poignant upon Gray Fox's death. Also, in its own way it speaks of how that hellish world from The Protomen's songs is Break Man's actual goal now; he wants to be that Wily figure. While the lyrics carry a ton of weight, the song itself is rather mellow in comparison, and that's where Cage's theme one-ups it. "Prepare Yourself" is one of the hypest songs in any show, hitting hard with the namedrop before finding a way to balance build-up and immediate energy perfectly. The song finds new ways to spike and keep the liveliness going even when it turns down a notch. Like I said earlier, Cage's theme is what Zubaz's theme wishes it was. Also, while not to the extent of "The Stand" with Break Man, "Prepare Yourself" speaks to Johnny Cage's character as well; thanks to the personal announcer and lyrics, we learn all about who Cage is, where he comes from, and that over-the-top charismatic charm he has that manages to be silly yet also entirely legitimate. It's both cheesy and intense, and makes Cage out to be like a Mr. Satan who really did defeat Cell. Both themes portray their respective characters perfectly, but in the end "The Stand" might not have the same oomph against just any wrestler. In contrast, "Prepare Yourself" has the same great effect in any match, be it against a random opponent or Cage's mortal enemy. Furthermore, that cheering included in the song itself, meant to tell you about his Hollywood hype, sort of doubles as a vocalization for the audience's own cheers in the chat. That tiny extra bit of versatility and crowd participation is the deciding factor: Johnny Cage gets my vote. As for the bronze medal, "Collective Consciousness" just outdoes "Unknown from M.E." in my opinion. Also, to be fair, whenever I think of Knuckles' rap the first thing that comes to my mind is that mash-up Triple-Q did. "Collective" has no such issue. Senator Armstrong gets my vote. Proto Man has a theme. Johnny Cage has a WRESTLING theme. He get's my vote and the fact he's behind in the polls is really confusing to me. |

Break Man is a better story. Johnny Cage is the 'best entrance theme'. By the definition of the tournament, I have to vote for him. |

I don't care if he hates humanity, I'm voting for Break Man. And Knuckles for third. |
