VGCW Entrance Theme Tournament

Remember last year when we were excited for this?
Kinda crazy that in yesterday's vote, Bowser did his "decides to just win" thing. I'd say the game knows, but this wasn't the game... Oh no..........

So I guess I sort of have to pick Sho here. But seriously, it's a really fitting entrance track, it even has a lyric break for the announcer to introduce him. Finding the Transformed version of the theme gave me more wiggle room to give him a slightly longer and cockier entrance, and I'm really glad I did. No disrespect to Guile. Good theme, but as others have said, it's not really the best version, and also not really the most fitting version for him as a heel. For my money, the SF4 version is a good Heel Guile theme.

Wily and Air Man is a much tougher decision, but I think I have to pick Wily for just being a more iconic theme. Again, using a few different themes recently hurts Air Man a bit for me. But seriously guys, Mega Man 2 had some fucking great music.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love Guile's theme. It's a classic and honestly a great tune on it's own...

But Transformation completely blows it out of the water in terms of being an entrance theme. Like, holy shit. There are a distinct few competitors in VGCW with entrance themes that are so good that make me think "Okay, if I was a wrestler, this is what I'd enter to." Sho is pretty damn high on that list. It's a fucking great song and it really has everything a song needs to be a good entrance theme.

It starts off with that distinct voice clip that announces who this person is (it's always great when a real wrestling theme does this, IE: The Rock's theme), has that short bit of build up into the bulk of the song, which hits just as Sho shows up. And the lyrics work so good as a wrestler's theme, shouting about how you should pay attention to this guy ("Keep on your eyes on this confusion/Come on, yes you should watch this Trans-For-Mation!"). It's fucking aces, and that's why it's SHO's my pick.

I gotta go with Wily for the second match. It's just too damn iconic at this point. I hear it and in my head, I just hear/see hundreds of people shouting ALBERTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Also it's Wily's Castle theme, putting another Mega Man song against this is really not fair.

Guile did nothing wrong
Guile is using one of the worst versions of his theme so Sho gets the win there easily

Air Man's is good but Wily's is truly elite

NOPE.
Sho over Guile mostly because Guile's using a pretty low quality version of his theme, and it doesn't go with his character much at all.

Wily over Air Man. It's iconic, and it's a really good remix to make it seem like an actual wrestler theme.

Oooooooooooooh.
Goddamn.
This is a close one.

I have to give it to Guile and Air Man

I could go in depth. But other people already have, in good reason. All four of these are great themes, fit the charecters well, and have the best hooks.

Sho. Guile needed the Super Street Fighter version

Alberto Del Wily had the single best entrance of any wrestler in the early days, and maintains a top tier one now.

Guile, because I'm a memelord and also because I never played TWEWY and Sho only had one match and I can't remember how his theme goes.

Wily. While Air Man benefits from flexibility suiting either the SSB4 remix or the Air Man / Airman ga Taosenai medley, Wily has the more iconic theme, and it wouldn't be changed for the world. Okkusenswag.

Have you ever heard a song and at the time you liked it, but then for whatever reason you end up hearing it a billion more times and you grow to hate it with a passion? That's Guile's theme.

I don't know anything about Sho, or TWEWY, or if he'll actualy amount to anything on this show, but his theme isn't Guile's, so he wins.

Am I the only one who finds Air Man's theme to be really unpleasant and unmemorable? No? Just me? Well whatever.

Dr. Wily had the best theme and intro for YEARS, and he's only beaten nowadays by two other people, if there is any justice in the world, Wily will go far in this tournament.

My votes are for Sho and ALBERTOOOOOOOOOO!

Guile and Wily

Guile's theme is just iconic and never forget it goes with everything.

if it was Airman SSB4 he'd be winning absolutely unless if it was Hounds Wily. If Wily had The Hounds he'd be winning the tournament i'd be saying that right now.

IT'S OVEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Sho beats Guile 22-8 and Wily defeats his creation Air Man 26-4. A lot of people said that if Air Man/Guile had different versions of their themes it might be a different story but alas.

Anyway, next we have

Guybrush Threepwood

vs

The King of the Beach, the Bad Man, Vegeta

No Alestorm in this match. Guybrush is kicking it solo. And on a side note I totally nailed that edit of the Bad, Bad Man. Sounds exactly like it appears in VGCW and totally seamless. Very proud.

and the second match.

Mike Haggar

vs

The greatest VGCW Champion of all time, Scorpion

Scorpion is testing his might against the recently revitalized mayor. Can he turn the beat back?

  • See, I really like Guybrush's Theme...But :badman: 's is arguably the most iconic theme in VGCW, so the vote goes to my liege, The King of DA BEECH.
  • This one on the other hand is going to be a lands-

Haven't you ever seen a pink shirt before?
"You ain't worthy of being my secretary man"- John Cena, 2005 (that's a quote)
Contender to win the whole shebang imo. Such an iconic theme. Vegeta all the way.
I'll go with Haggar just because all of the other MK characters from the first game have stupid ridiculous themes and Scorpion's is kind of boring. Free Lost Soul bent on Revenge. TURN THE BEAT BACK is a good song and entrance theme, but overall it's more because I don't like Scorps's theme.

No fucking contest on the first one. Guybrush's startup is way too slow, not really exciting, and just doesn't work as an entrance theme. Badman is Badman. Easiest vote so far.

Scorpion takes the other one. I've heard the MK theme so many times that it's lost a lot of luster, but Haggar's is kinda all over the place musically, and it doesn't sync with his entrance much at all either, whereas Scorpion has near perfect sync both with the title and without.

Gotta go with Badman(more iconic and works better as an entrance theme), and Scorpion's theme. Haggar's theme isn't bad, but I prefer the Mortal Kombat theme, which also has better sync.

Badman's and Scorpion's. They're just better.
