So with 2015 nearly over I thought it might be a good idea for people to talk about their favourite games of the year.

I was going to make it a top 5, but I felt it might be better for people to choose how many games they list as 2015 was a pretty good year for gaming.

So I'll kick this topic off with my top 7:

7. The Witcher 3 (Only here because I need to play more of it!)
I almost gave this spot to Ultra Despair Girls, but although I've played very little of the game I wouldn't feel right not giving it a spot on the list. I will eventually get round to playing this game again, but from what I've played so far I have enjoyed.

6. Life is Strange
Life is Strange took me by surprise. I may have felt the ending was a little weak but the overall story and setting was fantastic, with episode 2 tackling an issue I haven't seen a game tackle before. If you've not played this game I suggest maybe checking it out at the very least.

5. Tales of Zesteria
It's not the best Tales game, but I've been having fun with it. If you've played Tales you probably already know what to expect and if you haven't its not a bad introduction to the series.

4. Splatoon
It's been a while since I've enjoyed a multi-player shooter, but Splatoon is just fun and full of character. An easy pick for this list.

3. Fallout 4
The game may have been overly simplified, however Fallout 4 has probably the best world to explore in the series (from the games I've played at least). I spent 72 hours with this game and loved every minute of it, the dialogue is lacking when compared to New Vegas, but the game at its core was a blast to play and kept me wanting to come back for more.

2. Xenoblade X
Still Currently playing this, but it's more Xenoblade and 'I'm really feeling it!'. Honestly though, it's a great game worthy of this spot.

1. Bloodborne
From start to finish Bloodborne was a fantastic experience. I love the setting, I love the combat, I love the lore. Technically the first Souls game I've really gotten into, the faster pace combat just felt more natural to me than the slower pace of the other games. Seriously if you have a PS4 I'd pick up this game as its a game every PS4 owner should at least try out if not outright own.

Honourable Mentions as I have yet to actually play them despite owning them...
Metal Gear Solid 5
Undertale

I began to buy games on release more often. I bought Killing Floor 2 and Undertale and enjoyed it. Valkyria Chronicles came to PC so I got that too. I just bought GG Xrd and waiting for it to download. Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 is fun. Named party after bunch of people and it's been a blast.

In no particular order:
-Fallout 4
-The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes
-Splatoon
-The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (if it even counts)

Holy shit those are the only game releases from 2015 that I've actually played.

TOUGH  BOY
No particular order, just thoughts.

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut
The actual heir to Fallout. Makes no apologies or compromises for being difficult, tactical and atmospheric unlike some other games that take place in a wasteland. Hardly perfect but good enough.

Bloodborne
The most involving of the Souls series as I see it. Fast and brutal. Great lore.

Xenoblade Chronicles X
Shame about how the music is mixed during cutscenes (LOUD). But that doesn't prevent this game from being an actual captivating open-world, unlike so much open-world garbage that gets put out every year by the west. Well done.

Undertale
Maybe one day we'll all be sick of it but as of now, it's simply an excellent game with unforgettable music.

Yakuza 5

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
Probably a divisive pick but I appreciate the challenge the game brought to me, in addition to even more excellent music.

Honorable Mentions:
MGSV
Dragon Quest Heroes
Splatoon
Mario Maker
Transformers Devastation

OBJECTION!
Well let's see, I've bought only eight games from this year. Two of them I ended up not liking and another that I won't play until Christmas.

So let's have a top five.

5) The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3d
I never played MM before so this was my first time and man I fucking loved this game. Easily my favorite Zelda ever.
The three day mechanic was the best part. The sidequests put some modern RPGs to shame and the writing was really touching at times.

4) Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin
See when Dark Souls 2 came out I ended up disliking it, but with this new version instead I had a blast.
Maybe it's because this time I played with a build I actually had fun using, but it's also because the game's new balancement did improve the whole experience.
Plus the DLCs were all great, especially Crown of the Ivory King.

3) Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition
Now, DMC4 is still a huge waste of potential because despite having the best combat in the series it lacks way to many things to be able to top DMC3, we can all thank Capcom and its time constraints for that. Despite that this new version added three new characters that are all fun as fuck to play as. Vergil, Trish and Lady are all a blast and all feel unique enough. If DMC5 ever gets made I hope it reintroduces this multiple characters dynamic and maybe even gives each character its own campaign with unique levels (which would require way too much effort for fucking Capcom)

2) Bloodborne
This fucking game man. The gameplay was Dark Souls but faster and much more aggressive which also mean much more fun. The boss fights were pretty good and Gehrman is one of my favorite final bosses of all time, his fight felt like something straight out of DMC. The setting and the lore were so good that they got me into reading Lovecraft.
Having said this the game has some huge flaws like the entirety of the Loran Darkbeast boss fight which is actually a boss fight against the fucking unstable camera.

1) Super Mario Maker
You fucking bet this is my GOTY.
See I've always sucked at anything with editors but with Mario Maker instead it turned out differently, could it be because this game's editor is very simple and intuitive?
Regardless here I am with over 30 levels made, almost 1200 stars about to hit the seventh medal while also being one of the most active known makers on the /v/ threads.
This kind of game makes you undestand why people like Miyamoto love making games so much, it just feels good when people have fun with the stuff you worked hard on.
Especially if your levels are not just simply built around a gimmick but are classical levels that feel like they could be from the actual games.
Speaking of which on /v/ there's one guy who made an entire campaign of 32 levels divided in 8 worlds and is now working on the sequel. That's two entire fucking games in here.
Having said this the game has flaws, way too much stuff is missing from the editor (especially SMW stuff, that game got the worst treatment) and there really needs to be a way to change the music of your levels because people are getting tired of the same old goddamn tunes.

As for the games I didn't like those would be Splatoon and Phantom Pain.
Splatoon is good and all but it just didn't click with me and I could write an entire essay on what was wrong with MGSV but this post is already long enough.

Learning to make a good caw since 2k13
my top games is rather short due to not having current gen and kinda forgetting what all I got during 2015...

Tales of the Borderlands:
At first I wasn't sure how TellTale games would do with Borderlands, how to make a point and click game out of a game about guns and loot, and yet they turned it into a total success. The writing and voice acting alone just sells the game, the two leads are just golden and I honestly hope to see most of these new characters be playable in borderlands 3. Its maybe one of the best games TellTale have come out with to date.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Chroma Squad:
A fun Strategy game where you make your own power rangers like show, picking the actors for each role, the name of the squad, what they shout when they transform and so on, its a very clever game and while it is missing what the beta images show, its still a fun game and worth a look. Lights, Camera, CHROMIZE!

Yaukza 5:
For what little I've played of this game, I already know its going to be a blast, as are the other games for the ps3. Over the top super moves and TAXI DRIVING WOOO!

I missed out on a LOT of stuff this year.

I think it says a lot when my GOTY is probably Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows. Yes, it's just a free DLC expansion, but this year did see Shovel Knight's physical release, and Plague of Shadows felt unique enough in its own right that it could have been its own game.

Honourable mentions to Majora's Mask 3D, TriForce Heroes, and probably Yoshi's Woolly World but I haven't finished it yet.

My games:

Dragon Ball Xenoverse: It's not perfect, but it's a really great way to bring Dragon Ball Online to people everywhere. With a solid group of friends, even the worst of the Parallel Quests become fun. The combat is really good, too!

The Phantom Pain: Despite Konami's fuckery, The Phantom Pain's quality was a very nice diversion to a normal Metal Gear, and it still keeps the good ol' pile of crazy bullshit that makes no sense that makes Metal Gear great.

Splatoon: Nice, fun and NEWWWWW IP from Nintendo, with a shitton of weapons to suit every playstyle and it tends to get a bit addictive.

Shit That I Forgot To Play Because I'm Too Busy Waiting For All The Games Coming Out In 2016 But I Want To Play Them:

Hotline Miami 2

Undertale

Super Mario Maker

Yakuza 5

Xenoblade X (Still trying to beat Chronicles...)
