WHELP. That was a match.

I guess we're all going to be Shadow Slaves to Bison now, or whatever he has planned.

Yo, it's me. It's me. It's A.T.B.
Really, though, that ending was one that made the most sense. Shadaloo needed a win to back up their talk, Falcon needed momentum after blowing it against Dan, and Flint still was able to look strong in it.

It gives Shadaloo a non-plot victory, and something for them to gloat over

It works out nicely.

I'm just hoping that Flint will be able to get a win this season....I'm getting weird Season 8 Protoman vibes from him....

Clearly I gave Bison too much credit. Asura still might have a lot of potential and Bison could have possibly done more, but winning at the moment they did, off a Kinzie Special no less, really didn't do them any favors in my book. They didn't even ace any teamwork, unless Bison claims he master-planned a strategic team bonk...which would be laughable. It's like, they technically won but look like they need to aim lower, maybe much lower, at the same time. He lived but Ides of March'd his own momentum/reputation, and it just feels really awkward as a whole.

Just...crap man, I like Falcon, but the feeling there was less "Big Falcon Moment" and more "weeeeeelp." I worry that he's not gonna stick around with just "welp."

Aside from that, the show had a ton of great moments. Arino's entrance followed by Ridley's debut was amazing, especially with the super-hyped crowd shifting to screaming in terror. The match itself was fun too, and stuff like the Morph Ball was amusing (even if the Space Pirates never got that working). Kefka coming out to Ebi's theme was hilarious and perfectly in-character, and the crowd still cheering for so long just made it even better, as if they truly did love the hell out of Kefka and didn't care that Ebi's song got used for a trick. Ebi immediately going for the double-lewd combo on Kefka was amazing, and the fact that the match turned into molestation vs. castration was hilarious -- and the match itself rocked too. The crowd cheering like crazy almost every time Duke got teamed on was perfect.

The Fuckheads vs. Toejam & Earl was a great match and showed signs of the Fuckheads finally beginning to learn teamwork in the interests of making more money. TJ&E were sharp and the Fuckheads became sharper to make that great runback. Donte making that final save was clutch as hell, and though Earl funked it up a bit, Donte at least took the chance to stall him as long as possible and with style. Kanji vs. Sho was neat and with great music, and Vyse looked strong against the Deadly Alliance -- too bad he dropped when he did. It felt surprisingly quick, poor guy. Cage kind of controlled that too I felt; not much of a complaint, just that Scorpion was the hometown hero and all. Ah well, they had several.

Overall, main event's finish felt very underwhelming, but good show as a whole.

Good episode. I can't believe how hard I found myself suddenly rooting for Bison to pin Dracula. That would have thrown such an interesting wrench into things. Falcon pinning Flint works though.

Ridley looks like a beast. Hope he can keep that ferocity up.

Bison was fighting equally with your boy, Dracula. The fuck did Bison do wrong in that match?

I said in his own thread that Bison's skills against Drac were quite good (even almost Psycho Crusher'd him -- twice), but Shadaloo's teamwork was terrible compared to their foes. That finish also just seemed to come at a bad place and time for building up Shadaloo's fearsomeness and the payoff of their first real match together. The bar felt very high after all they've done so far too, from crashing two awesome main events, possibly ending Barret's career, denying SBV even a chance to celebrate and hospitalizing our new champs, etc. Also, Falcon being the one to nab a win like that was kind of unfortunate because he was the one dude who probably couldn't afford a feeling of "welp."

I guess I'm also just a bit high-strung/overly critical after all the talks of viewers leaving this and new viewers that. With the comments about plot overshadowing wres on here+SA and stuff, along with community concerns about keeping/getting people invested, in the back of my head Shadaloo crashing so much cool stuff only to sort of fall short on the first impression feels worrisome. Plus, with the shadow of Bison still over the main belt to some degree, I just hope it doesn't slow the title scene a la Season 9. Shadaloo's still got plenty of episodes ahead of them, but I just hope it isn't too slow of a burn considering the circumstances.

To me, it makes sense that Shadaloo isn't doing hot teamworkwise. Asura and Falcon are already unhinged to begin with regarding their bloodlust. Bison struggling to keep a leash on them might be what causes some of his plans and flaws to wind up exposed. Remember, the goal of most antagonists is to be defeated, and Shadaloo having this weakness might work out storywise.
