Is Cross Ange the worst show quality wise that's ever managed to get into Super Robot Wars? I think it is.

I dunno, SEED Destiny has been a mainstay for about 10 years now.

I think they're slowly working they're way to putting Muv Luv in a game. That's the last step left.

Also just putting this here for safe keeping.

As we get ready for the first Non Endless Frontier SRW title coming in English since the GBA games way so long ago I though I'd share my thoughts on the game since playing the JPN vers. to give players who didn't buy both releases.

Pros

1. Anyone new to the SRW games really doesn't need to know what has happened in the past 4 games(2 numbers and 2 Gaidens) to pick up on whats going on in the OG universe. While it helps you can just jump in cold turkey and be good to go.

2. Background and animations in general are amazing. Especially if you like sword finishers. Almost all of the later end attack are amazing(and long when you get into later enemies). Some even have nice little call-outs to there past games like the XO/GC Original having the body system in its attack like it did in its original games. Some of the stages are just awesome in general especially the attention to detail on the space stages having the cloud formations on earth actually move slowly across it.

3. No filler chapters to inflate game play like in SRW OGs2. Which was one of my least favorite points of that game.

Cons

1. Sorta punished for not using certain characters. Besides route splits there are a few levels that force deploy certain characters at the initial part of the stage. If you're going for every SR point you might run into one of the problems I had in the 30's range of stages where you have to kill X number of enemies in Y turns and the only two people you are given are One of your top 5 sweepers and another guy who you've benched since his arrival in the starting points of the game leaving you SOL.

2. Ally AI is still retarded and suicidal. SR point Make sure all Type II Huckubeins survive. You just killed all of the mooks and only have the boss left. End turn. Enemy turn. Boss moves. End turn. Ally Turn. Type II Hucky runs up to boss and precedes to get smacked into oblivion. SR point failed.

3. Enemy types tend to start to repeat really early this game. Kinda self explainitory.

Misc

1. Masaya Matsukaze as Jau-mu. Kills it as his VA. One of the best performances I've seen in any game in a while. He captures Jau-mu's character perfectly.

2. You can tell how tired Yuko Mizutani was in her performance this game. Not so much with Alfimi since her voice has a effect to it but Excellen's parts don't have there usual flare. Her Phoenix Showdown voice over doesn't have the same bang you'd expect with a Gespy Kick and some of her attacks just sound so totally lifeless that it brought tears to my eyes.

3. Ibis and her Harem are your friends. Use them.

4. Haken and Aschen are fun new characters in this game and explains why they weren't in PxZ2. While Haken flirts with the female cast (even his ace bonus is for every female hes teamed up with he gets a 5% bonus to damage) and gives nicknames Aschen bullies everyone except Haken and Yon (VA callout).

5. There are exactly 3 setups for future stories in the game proper that I noticed. One that everyone has been expecting since his cameo in the first OGs, one bringing in a manga-only team to help the movement of this characters story since who they end up with in that game is impossible for a Non mainstream SRW game, one setting up for the inclusion of a whole new series. Not as obvious as shooting the moon in OGs2 but if you know your SRW lore its staring you right in the face.

All in all it's a solid game. 7.5 out of 10 imo. It has its kinks and everything but still an enjoyable game. It sold surprisingly well in Japan showing that there is still interest in the OG side of things. If the SEA release is like the JPN one, it comes with a questionnaire that you should fill out just to tell them what characters you want in the future releases (Word on the street is that a lot of the JPN fans said they wanted Mist from SRW K). If you still haven't picked up the game, Play-Asia(at least) have started preparing orders for shipping today.
