I watched all of Season 1 but couldn't get into it. I'll give it another try in Season 3, but I hope you make it less alienating for people who didn't watch ARENA, and cut down on the memes in plot. "smh tbh fam" is not acceptable dialogue.

BWA ended around the time I got into VGCW and stuff. So to see this coming back is definitely some cool news, especially since VGCW and EDBW are going to be ending soon. I wonder, will it return with a brand new generation of fighters? Or is it going to continue with the old generation back for a new round of wres? |

Remember last year when we were excited for this?
|
Belmont said that after the first episode, there will be a vote on the forums to determine the bulk of the roster, and Belmont is saving some slots for himself. But one thing that newer viewers may not realize, we don't really have ways to make new characters any more. Someone can make their own, but the online servers that were used to upload and download characters have been offline for something like a year and a half. Without that, unless the person running the show wants to make new characters themselves, there won't be any. |

Yell at the people who put that in plot. Also acceptable dialogue? I didn't know you were the authority on what other people can and cannot say in the plots they make. |

NOPE.

Unless you were willing to pick up a controller and join in, I dunno if you've got the right to tell people that what they're doing is "acceptable" or not. Show some respect to the people who actually tried contributing something. |

Okay, I'm not going to try to start a fight here or anything, but it is a valid criticism that BWA had a shitton of in-jokes and incomprehensible at times plot that made it really hard to get into. Hell, one of the season two feuds was between a self-insert that was literally Groose in a suit, and whatever the fuck Sponge was. And then there was the what.. 8-10 minute plot that was literally just scenes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Or Gamerman Gymnius' entire existence. If you haven't been watching since Arena, it's easy to go "what the hell is this and why should I care?" and tune out. Part of that was from the excessively bloated roster and part of it was a natural problem stemming from too many writers. Steps are obviously being made to correct those issues. That's good! But it would be nice if the VGCW discord wasn't required listening to get into BWA, and the show relied less on in-jokes that came from it and ARENA. I get that BWA has a different atmosphere than regular VGCW, and that's fine. And it's fine if there are some in-jokes that not everyone will get. But they should be used more like the Sombrero of Destiny. Yes, it was pulled from an Arena running joke. But it was also parseable by a newbie, since even if you didn't really know why everyone wanted this silly hat, you did realize it was a prize worth fighting over. tl;dr: Yes, BWA is a different show and that's fine, it's not going to be for everyone, myself included. But I'm gonna give season 3 a fair shot. So, it'd be nice if it was a bit easier to follow. Grabbing torches and pitchforks at constructive criticism helps no one. Constructive criticism is fine and welcomed, and I don't even disagree with the analysis that BWA S1 and 2 relied too heavily on in-jokes and meme humor cause it did. Saying that someone's dialogue is not proper though seems a lot more like telling someone that they have to write a specific way. Not even in terms of needing to write a character more accurately or have more engaging plot either, but just that the lines are bad. Without offering any pointers on what supposedly makes proper dialogue, it's not that constructive, y'know? But yes, overall please do share what you'd like to see in the reboot. Just, y'know, phrase it in such a way so that we can actually respond to it and adjust cause that's more in line with the type of suggestions that are needed. Edited by Prozach, Apr 1 2017, 01:27 PM.
