VGCW Season 12 Character Evaluations

Glad Groose didn’t get hotshotted to the VGCW Championship after spending a season as Casual Champion. It felt great to see Groose get put through a table by Asura, get beaten by Seifer to completely shut him out from the finals of the King of the World tournament, also get beaten by Dan in a match where the winner goes on to a #1 Contendership match despite just losing to Seifer, and the best part of Groose’s season for me: him coming out at #30 in the Prime Cup Rumble and failing to win it. Even better: he got eliminated by the person who took the Casual Championship from him.

So now that Season 12 is done taking a crap on him, I won’t be so negative on Groose going after the VGCW Championship now.

Here's hoping Ebisumaru picks up Goemon's intro theme. Someone's gotta keep the GANBARE spirit alive, you know?

I'm glad Goemon is gone but in a kind of way I feel empty. I literally hated him so much and booed the shit out of him. Now who is my least favourite? Duke, I guess? Goemon at least filled an important role as 'the fucking worst ever'.

Goemon was cool, nobody liked him.

I'm glad he wasn't murdered at least.

I shall move on.

Guile being cut does not sit right with me nor how he was removed from the show. A former Casual Champion and a former VGCW Champion, someone that was one title away from winning the triple crown is getting treated like Goemon? Somebody who still manage to maintain heel heat (you can argue about if it was genuine heat or not, but it was still heat) and wasn’t even performing that badly like Falcon or pre-rumble win Phoenix. In fact, Guile beat Phoenix this season and where are the two of them now?

There were two things that could have been done this season to get interest back in Guile: get him involved in the Shadaloo storyline since his canon mortal enemy is the focus of the show right now, but that was not done and I sort of understand the reasoning behind it in that Guile was still an asshole heel. The other thing that could have been done was against newly crowned heel, Duke Nukem. To be fair, it is being done now but it’s too late for Guile and Guile could have used Duke’s own heel turn to transition him back into tweener-possible face status.

Would the effort being put into Guile have been worth it since roster bloat is a problem? To that I say, did Guile really needed to be removed on top of Bison, Falcon, Barret, and Goemon in addition to Wario, Segata, and DK being cut last season? There are still wrestlers on the current VGCW roster that people have been calling to get cut and those wrestlers deserved to have been cut before Guile.

Now looking at the near future. If Guile does beat Duke, then that just reaffirms my opinion that the decision to cut Guile was short-sighted for someone who was at one point considered the top heel of VGCW.

Then maybe they’ll remember the name “Guile” still freakin’ means something.

What a waste of a good line.

One last thing I wanted to add: I think Morrigan is going to be involved as a manager too so I really wonder who the hell would want to help Guile?

Man, people whose name starts with the letter G really did suffer this season.

Guile, you were a magnificent bastard for awhile, but now it's time for YOU to go home and be a family man.

I hope Guile is a heel manager in the future. I think that role would suit him well, and would definitely put an aspiring heel over. Potential ONE MORE MATCH things in its wake, as well. Just to really stick it to Duke: "I can't kick your ass anymore, but this guy can". Helps reinvent Guile's character without needing him to be booked and win/lose specific matches.

Because, historically, I absolutely think Guile is worth saving. At least compared to other recent cuts (Goemon, Wario, DK, even Segata - and I say that with DK having been my favorite wrestler for a long time!), Guile has an impact on the show that I feel can be more tastefully done than 'has a match with Duke. If he wins, he goes out in glory and we forget about him. If he loses, well that was kind of a waste'.

Plus I'll miss posting this

NOPE.
An entire storyline about Shadaloo didn't involve Guile at all outside of his death. He definitely got a lot worse over time but being cut off from an obvious potential boost like that accelerated his demise.

This season took nearly six months and I'm still wondering why Guile wasn't involved at all. I felt that Guile was going to get fired sooner or later, but cucking him out of angle MADE for him didn't make sense at all.

Reminds me of Season 8 where Sonic was nowhere to be found despite the plot arc being about robots and Eggman being one of the main bad guys.

tbh if Guile had gotten involved in the Shadaloo plotline I somehow would've found a way to care even less about him and the Shadaloo storyline so I'm glad he just kinda got killed off to the side like he deserved.

At least Sonic said something about how Robotnik was a bad guy, despite not doing anything about it all season.

For someone so smug about being right about Duke all along, Guile never even seemed to be phased by Bison's attempt at taking over.

Well in the VGCW-Verse, they don't have anything to do with each other, so he likely had no reason to care.

Kinda like how our Raiden and Armstrong likely don't know each other, hell Raiden isn't even a cyborg yet.

Yeah, I'm a fan.
Guile wasn't involved in the overarching plot despite being a Street Fighter character... okay.

Guile wasn't given a boost for being right about Duke after all of these seasons... okay.

Guile died... okay.
