Downside, Ganon is champ and won it from someone much better and far more deserving. Good news, there is a NOT INSIGNIFICANT CHANCE OF GANON/BOWSER 3 HAPPENING |

Fuck it, if Ganondorf and Scorpion are gonna get shots again, then just let Nappa go for the top belt. Wouldn't mind seeing Nick stand up for Vegeta and pull out some legalese to ensure he gets a rematch either, because that was pretty suspect, considering Ganon almost botched the cash-in by letting Vegeta kick his ass until he pulled out his finisher. |

Doesn't matter who it is, if someone get a title shot, they most likely deserved it. Besides Ganon was using his veteran knowledge to let the babyface shine before winning. That's knowing the business, brother.

Ganondorf just hasn't looked very good recently, and while it's nice that he gets to have his 4th reign as a point for the record books, I don't know how much money there is in him being champion again. Vegeta climbing up for seasons with a bunch of really impressive wins, and only a loss to Air Man against him, makes for a much more interesting story. If Vegeta drops down the card, that story goes away. If Ganon faces someone else and drops the belt, then we're just hot-potatoing the title, and with how he's been recently, that's not beyond the realm of possibility. If they rematch, then either Vegeta wins and gets back on track with his story, or he loses and can use THAT loss to push in a new direction, and Ganon gets his title reign "legitimized". |

Personally, I think a triple threat with Phoenix, Vegeta and Ganondorf for the title in a few episodes would be a great way to settle all this. You'd have Phoenix being the ultimate underdog trying to overcome the man who beat him along with the man who beat the man who beat him, Vegeta trying to become the true King again and Ganondorf trying to defend his title. It would be compelling to watch and would leave a lot of people satisfied to know who would win this match. |

That could be fun too, but I guess I just would be disappointed not to get a proper PPV feud between Ganondorf and Vegeta. Their trajectories have been so different, and this is the last I'll say about it. Singles: In the start, Ganondorf was one of the top, top guys while Vegeta was a biggest jobber on the roster. By the time Vegeta got his first singles win to set his overall record to 2-15, Ganondorf was already a 2-time champion and was bearing down on his third reign. Eventually, Vegeta gets a run as Majin Vegeta to break the Gerudo Curse, but as he said in his promo tonight, that victory wasn't enough. He doesn't feel like it belongs to him, and he wants to do it again on his own. He got a supernatural power-up he didn't earn, a title shot he didn't earn (he may have earned a Casual shot, but he swapped with Dan), and won the title without deserving it. He cut corners to be the best, and now, reflecting, knowing that sickens him. We'll come back to this idea later. Tag-Teams: Gerudo Skies lost their first title match, but then ran over a tournament, won the belts, and kept them for the longest reign to that point. Everything was easy for them. The Saiyans get a contender's match against Game Center FU. They lose. They get another one against Raw Power, and lose there too. They go up against Gerudo Skies in the tag-team tournament, and lose. They get a shot at Game Center FU's titles and lose. Finally, they go through a great tournament, and win the belts and have a nice run, but nothing was easy. So we stand at this point where they're both former VGCW champions, they're both former Co-Op Champions, but the paths they took to get there were different, and since then, they've been VERY different. Vegeta goes over Bowser, he goes over Duke, he books himself in a match against Scorpion because he wants to be recognized as the best, he loses to Air Man but comes back to beat Gary, Cage, and Dan in convincing fashion. He earns that contendership and he goes up against Phoenix as equals, and beats him. Ganondorf gets some good wins too, not to sleep on him at all, but he gets his shot in a gimmick match, and then loses to Edgeworth. Sets up his VGCW match in his favor, and then tries to get a stipulation added to further benefit himself, only to lose the right by Armstrong going over in their match. Ganon was an amazing champ, but he has slowed down and lost momentum, and in doing so, he has cut corners. He has walked the easy path to gold, stacked the odds in his favor, and now he's an aging veteran holding a championship while looking himself in the mirror and wondering if he can still go the way he used to. Vegeta was a total loser when Ganon was on top before, and now he's one of the top stars in the company who fought his way into contention with everything he had. Ganon came out on top, but the match with Vegeta wasn't as one-sided as it should have been (from Ganon's perspective). Ganon always had the talent to be the best, but now, he's losing matches he should win, and having to rely on gimmick matches and weighted odds to get the job done when it counts. Vegeta was never the best, and never could even come close. He became the champion the same way Ganon is doing it now, through something he didn't "earn" (obviously Ganon won MitB and that's legitimate, but I don't think it's unfair to say that it is less-obviously legitimate, in kayfabe, than working yourself into a contender's match, winning it, and beating the champion fairly), and now rejects those accomplishments, instead focusing on bettering himself to become the top guy on his own terms. The question now, is was that enough? Even if Ganondorf has dipped, even if Vegeta has peaked, can the Prince of All Jobbers beat the 4-time VGCW champion in a straight-up, fair, no bullshit, no gimmicks match? I think the parallels are there, they're both clearly top workers who could probably make a great match with one another, and it's a hell of a story. VGCW is historically not generous with rematches, and I think that's usually a good thing, but I think this outcome has created a situation where it would be fresh (they've never faced each other in a 1v1 match before tonight, I don't think, but their paths have crossed enough that there's SOME history) and satisfying, story-wise, to build a feud out of the two of them. |

I enjoyed most of the matches tonight, Zangief vs Bowser (bowser got those sigs and finishers really fast, but that's what happens when he doesn't have a win), the triple threat didn't interest me, the tag team match didn't either. Raiden vs Waluigi is another showing of why knockout matches are unreliable (more so Wah being a wildcard), haven't watched the match after, Octodad vs Ridley (his speed at getting sigs and finishers is comparable to bowser), showing once again that Ridley is something else. And then we have the championship matches, which personally they were the best they could have been, both matches were really intense and suspenseful. King Vegeta vs Phoenix Wright was extremely good, showing that Vegeta hasn't lost the performance he showed during the Duke match (the king of the beach one), and Phoenix Wright wasn't slacking off either. But in the end Phoenix Wright simply failed to hit signatures that probably would have saved him in the end (two finishers didn't make it), and it really showed heart from both competitors, both neck and neck. Now, Vegeta never stopped showing heart and unbelievable endurance against Ganondorf (it almost didn't look like Vegeta had his health lowered at all, especially since he kept reversing, dodging and generally making his opponent whiff moves and countering them, which is impressive against Ganondorf), and while Vegeta might have caused his own defeat (Ganondorf got his comeback, and Vegeta might've refused the 0MG), had he been still in top-notch condition, the story could have gone a different way (in the end, cash-ins aren't supposed to be fair).
