I've been working on a couple of CAWs recently, and the more I work on them the more I realize: WWE 2K14 just isn't good at understated character designs (RIP Gunstar Heroes CAWS).

So, I've also been thinking about Link, the Hero of Time. His design seems to suffer the same general problem: it's pretty simple, because of the N64's limitations. This also which also makes it a challenge to replicate in WWE 2K14. So maybe Ocarina of Time's link is best left in 2K13?

But if the Hero of Time isn't the hero we need, what about the Hero of Light?

I'm pretty sold on his entrance

The chainmail wasn't even that hard to do (and it came out far better than I expected)

I'm just not entirely sold on the face yet. It's so hard to replicate Anime-esque features.

He's still a W.I.P., but he feels very close to complete. Once I finish hammering out an entertaining move set, I'll probably put him up on VIDYA. Right now, I'm just fishing for suggestions on finishing touches!

Link
Ring Announcer Name: Hero of Lightning
Game: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Commentary Name: Hero
Billed From: The Old Country
Possible Entrance themes:
Orchestra Piece 1 is probably the best, but you have to start it about 47 seconds in for it to make a good VGCW intro
Hyrule Field Day is another good one, and it's long enough to carry extended scenes as well
The Santa Hat is really bad. It looks pretty poop and he'd honestly be better off without the hat. Or you could chose another hat. The Shield that's on his back could be bigger. It just looks a bit off being that small. His face seems fine.

Other than that, it's a pretty good Link.

The shield's as big as it gets without clipping into the shoulders. I could make it taller, vertically, but it's about at its limit horizontally so short of broadening his chest, I can't really make it bigger. It's already obscuring his scabbard almost entirely, too!

Edit: I'll still test to see how much bigger I can make it, though. I just can't promise a noticeable difference.

And yeah, I wish there was a version of the santa hat without the fur lining and pom-pom. I suppose I could swap it to a green bandana; it's just not quite the same without the big, goofy windsock.

Yeah, because both of you did wonderful jobs on him. It's going to be a shame either way.

How's this?

The shield's as wide as I can get it without clipping it into the shoulders (about 2% wider, if that); and I made it about 10-15% taller in the process so it takes up much more of his back. I suppose the bandana's close enough to be workable, but I may have to make some adjustments to Link's cranium to make it a better fit.

So with Star Road voting over, I tried my hand at improving my Travis Touchdown CAW to see if I can fix things a bit more.

Spoiler: click to toggle

And usual disclaimer.
Are there any larger more Ray ban style sunglasses that can be used? The lenses on the current CAW seem a bit small.
Besides that though you've pretty much nailed it good job.

@PoptartsNinja that's the best Link CAW I've seen, nice work man.
As for what can be improved a tiny nitpick is that the sides of the shield needs a little bit of smoothing out too make sure they come in at a smoother angle (it's easier to see where the angle changes from the back view than from the 45' angle but it's still barely noticeable), as for the hat I'm not too sure how to go about fixing it.

Well looks better than the one I made, much better. I never even though of using that shirt for his tunic.

The big problem any Link CAW is going to face is that hat. Lets face it, the hat is almost as iconic of any Link as anything else about him visually, and there's just nothing decent in the game to represent it well even with a little cheating.

I think that hat is as close as the game has to his in-game hat

This. Without Link's hat it doesn't work.

I apologize, looking at the source material it's actually a very good CAW, but the first time I saw this I went 'holy shit someone made Psy-Crow'.

I think the only possible Link you could make look decent would be Toon Link. Because

1. Toon Link would at least have the Outset Island outfit to fall back on.
2. Santa Hat sort of fits Toon Link's aesthetic, IMO.
