Hello everyone. Tonight I bring you a different thread then my usual. I am here to ask is there a Nintendo 64 game you consider underrated? Maybe one you feel didn't get enough love or attention?

Mine is easy. It has been and always will be Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. By far one of my favorite N64 games. I loved everything. The wacky story, the level design, the characters and of course the AMAZING soundtrack. I implore you if you have never played this game if you are able to please play it. You will not be disappointed.

That was mine. What was yours and did you have more then one?

I've only played a little bit of that game. I always wish I played more because what I did play I really enjoyed the hell out of.

I have no idea if they're underrated or not but the games I have the most vivid memories of on my 64 are Battle Tanx and Sarge's Heroes II
http://youtu.be/ticZ2Q4LTo4 holy shit Tannenburg ahahhaha
http://youtu.be/WU66NK6c-Z0?t=38s I don't remember ever reading the story when I played (I don't even know if I knew how to read then) but the story of this game is hilarious to me

Did anybody play either of these? Were they any good? I seem to remember both of them having multiplayer versus modes that me and my cousins would have epic duels in while we hung out in like his drug-addled parents' :disgusting: trailer house

I remember the tank game, I think my cousin rented one time and we played together. The music is very familiar.

Sarge's Heroes II I did not play but I did play Battle Tanx and I really did enjoy it. Wow seeing it again really brings me right back to my childhood.

It's really hazy, but I'm recalling that in the Sarge's heroes one one of the levels was the inside of a fridge and there was a dynamite weapon where you could just drop little timed bombs. My cousins and I spent at least an hour or two dropping dynamite from the top rack and having the 2nd player try to shoot it out of midair (lol something tells me that it wasn't possible).

Also, I remember having a lot of fun with the Star Wars Pod Racer and this Off-road challenge

I have no idea if either those are quality but it won't really taint my memory of them if they weren't ahahaha

I never played the Off-Road challenge game but Star Wars Pod Racer was a very fun and very challenging racing game. It was so unforgiving to you.

Eh I'd say it's not underrated, maybe just a little forgotten nowadays. JFG was really popular around the time N64 was out.

Now if you want an underrated 64 gem, this is it: Posted Image

I remember Battle Tanx (amazingly fun game), but that was the story behind it? Haha wow, I had no idea. Also, according to wikipedia, it turns out they made a sequel and were working on a third before 3DO went bankrupt. Huh.

Anyone ever play Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire for the n64? It was a really fun 3rd person shooter / ship flying-shooty game and I've never really known anyone who has played it, let alone heard of it other than some IRL friends that have played it with me.

Also seconding Mischief Makers. SHAKE SHAKE

Yes! Shadows of the Empire was my favorite shooter type game for the longest time, and Dash Rendar is still one of my favorite Star Wars metaseries characters because of it. Many hours laid to waste sniping people with a hand laser.

Also, obligatory "fuck IG-88".

Seconded. Bullshit level followed by a more bullshit boss. While I'm at it, fuck the canyon level too. It's long, difficult, and has a 2 stage boss at the end of it all. God damn. (I will admit I thought the level looked cool for the time though, I'm a sucker for those canyon-esque levels, like the cliff side from HL1)

EDIT

Just thought of a couple more while I was reminiscing about Battletanx...

Vigilante 8 and Vigilante 8: Second Offense were great games, especially for multiplayer. What I found really neat is that every single gun had a "secret" combo that you could imput that would effect the type of shot you would fire. For instance, if you entered a certain sequence on the mortar cannon, it would either cause the enemy car to bounce super high/around the terrain, but if you input another, it would use up more ammo but the mortars would do a ton of damage and cause craters. It was pretty neat.

Wow I come back to lots of great responses. I'll try and talk about these.

I loved Mischief Makers. I never finished it but that is a game I will find and I will beat and I will love it.
Pokemon Snap was a interesting game. Something different and it was enjoyable.
I played the shit out of Star Wars Shadows of the Empire. That is such a gem of a game. If you haven't played it and you love Star Wars you gotta give it a try.
The Vigilante 8 series was okay but it could never replace Twisted Metal to me so I never really got much enjoyment from it.

Great responses everyone. Keep them coming if you got them. ;D
