Oh. I didn't even notice that. #oof# .

That said I'm cool with an SMT General. Can't decide if I want to grab Raidou 2 or the DDS series. Need to kill time until Final, and hope Final kills enough time for P5.
The DDSes are really good, even if I personally am not a big fan of 2. Go through DDS1 at the very least, although it is an easier ride compared to the rest of the franchise.

If we're talking about MegaTen general I'd like to talk about Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker and how I keep getting killed by the second Septentrion. Frickin Atlus bosses.

love the septentrion music tho, that piano

SUP LOSERS, DISCO BALL JESUS HERE
WE'RE MAKING THE WORLD AGAIN OR SOME SHIT, SO I NEED YOUR NAME AND YOUR ALIGNMENT RIGHT THE FUCK NOW

So like, preferred alignments and if you have any naming conventions or common names, I guess.

I'm Neutral all day every day, and I always name my guys after pro wrestlers.
Yeah, like this

Neutral is the one true alignment and everyone else can either burn in he'll or freeze in heaven.

I've been naming my protagonists after redacted wrestlers lately. P3 is currently the adventures of Chris Benoit and I'm playing DeSu2 as Hulk Hogan.

Since all paths are neutral it wouldn't make since to leave out Isabeau.. She is confirmed as a partner character in Final.

Don't know much about SMT except that it's the parent franchise for Persona with the same monsters/demons/shadows/personas whatever, Nocturne had Dante as a boss/player character and apparently neutral is the best path.

Would 4/Final be a good place to start with the franchise? I heard the older games haven't aged too well due to universal improvements in the later games.

4's a good place to start, yeah. The difficulty in a lot of the games is a bit overblown, I feel, but it's pretty lenient once you get past the first area.

In general, I'd say to start with Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga or Persona 3/4 to get used to the naming conventions and battle systems.
Strange Journey/IV are a good place to go from there, although they play differently to those four. Then just play whatever you feel like.
You know, though, I wouldn't really say that the old ones are outdated. I played through SMT1 on SuFami recently enough and I thought it was pretty enjoyable. I mean, most of the games aren't even really all that old to begin with.

The first two games aren't bad, but they're a lot different from the rest of the series and the spinoffs that came after. Fusion is pretty bare-bones with no skill inheriting, your demons don't level up, and your guy can't actually use magic, only attack.
