Well, the seeding for the championship went pretty much as predicted, except for the surprise inclusion of Protoman. And the Glitchman even proved himself worthy of the top tier in a surprise upset of the Nerd! Anyway, it's about time to consider how the next Casual Contender's match will shake out. Here's my picks again, though they haven't changed much from last time. Solid Snake: A solid performer who could use a title shot after being tied up so long with plot events. Arino: Though defeating Gary admittedly isn't much of an accomplishment, it could be enough to earn the Kacho a chance at the belt. That is, if his scuffle with Illidan hasn't done any lasting damage... Nappa: Winning that fatal four-way match helps to clinch Nappa's position as a potential Casual competitor. The Casual title would be a good belt for him to go for. Dracula: Defeating Ezio should make Dracula's position in the Casual contendership a lock. Though he doesn't seem to be top-tier material, maybe he'll have more success in the midcard. Waluigi: Something tells me it's Waluigi time. As mentioned before, beating Kefka gives him a solid claim to a contender's spot. Captain Falcon: Though he came out second to Nappa in the fatal four-way, he still put on a solid performance. Other possible contenders, depending on availability, may include: Red: He may be ready to reclaim his title from Segata. Zangief: Another solid performer, though it's still unknown if he's recovered from Illidan's attack on him. Guile: With Duke in the Championship running, he might decide to take one more shot at the Casual title. Plus, if Duke and Guile hold the main and casual championships, it could add even more fuel to their growing rivalry. |

...Yes, yes he did. My mistake. Carry on. He still deserves a shot though. |

#1 Contenders for the Casual Title predix: Chief Arino: If Nerd succeeds in the chamber, they could hold all the straps. Donkey Kong: He was the last one eliminated from the last contender match, plus now he's got Diddy to back him up. Guile: Might muscle his way into the match after seeing Duke's hot streak of late. Red: No real reason, just think he'll be there. |

Well folks, a new VGCW champion was crowned tonight. It'd be best for Protoman to not rest on his laurels however, as everyone knows, once you're at the top of the mountain, everyone will be gunning for you. #1 Contenders predictions: Haggar: The Mayor's triple threat win over Fox and Jensen gives him a strong case at running for a third term. Groose: Since losing the title at End Game #4, Groose has been stuck in midcard limbo, yet he's been a very consistent competitor regardless. Ganondorf: My personal opinion, Ganon's been absent from the title scene long enough, now that he's not involved in any ongoing feuds, I think its time for him to return, though he could probably use a match next week to qualify him if necessary. Phoenix: Phoenix may have come short, but getting two pinfalls over Bowser is no fluke, he at least has another chance to earn his title shot. Snake: The transition to 2K14 has been pretty kind to Snake this season, and now that he's not involved in plot at the moment, it could be time for him to get into the title scene. Though like Ganon, might be best to qualify him to the contender's match first. Edit: Almost forgot: Scorpion: While he was left out of the Chamber match, the door may open for Scorps to finally stake his claim to the #1 Contender's scene, provided he isn't caught up in feuding Illidan Lesnar. Gabe: Former best champion, probably warrants a chance to earn his title shot as well. Edited by Feet PH.D, Feb 25 2014, 09:35 PM.

I think Phoenix vs. Ganon should happen, and the winner of that is added to a #1 contendership 4-way with Haggar, Gabe, and Duke. |

Oofa, never have I had so little idea as to who would be the next contender. Either they're already a belt-holder, just had a shot, or haven't got enough experience to be considered yet. I think it's high time we have ourselves a Royal Rumble. |

Ironically, kicking the champion's ass is the kind of thing that is liable to put Dracula beyond Casual tier. |

I predict these teams will be in the Co-Op tournament: The Practice The Mystical Ninjas The DK Crew Shadaloo The Saiyans Sonic & Knuckles The Dragons Team Fortress 2 (or if The Pyro can't help but crash the game, WarioWare despite Waluigi getting a Casual shot soon) |

Remember last year when we were excited for this?
|
Saiyans had the last shot, and Sonic's got MITB, so that may cause issues with them. Fortunately, we've got 2 amazing teams ready call up from the minors, Scratch & Grounder, and Toejam & Earl. I'd be surprised if we didn't see at least one of these teams debut. |

I wouldn't be. So with a new champion, we get ourselves looking at new potential contenders. As it stands right now, assuming none of the guys who just lost get in, I assume the next set of contenders starts a little something like this: Dracula --- Some really impressive wins/performances lately. Beating the sitting Casual Champ and #2 ranked wrestler has to be a signal that maybe you're ready for the big leagues. Groose --- Granted, he's battered some not-impressive competition, but he's absolutely destroyed said guys. My guess is Groose is one of the Ring Rangers, though, and probably will be overlooked as part of plot. Vegeta --- Pretty close to top 10, has looked impressive so far since his return. ~~~~ Other than those three standouts, it's kind of fuzzy. Haggar might be a good bet. He's been in the title scene for a while now, but he DID miss this last competition and he's still way up there in the rankings. Ganondorf's last big fight was a loss, so it seems kind of wonky to assign him to a competitor's spot based on that. What I'd like to see is a match between him and one of the really solid midcarders that's scraping their way to the title scene. Someone like a Mr. Satan, Kefka, Arino, or Wario (sans Waluigi) or, of course, Scorpion, who might be the best choice. Mac's also right at the top, but again, is coming off of a big loss. I dunno if being bodied is more or less humiliating than saying you quit, but I'd still hesitate to toss him into the fray. Like Ganondorf, he could fight one of the aforementioned dudes, or hell, just have him and Ganon fight each other, and kill the middle man. ~~~~ I think the tier of guys in the rankings, the five I mentioned in Ganon's paragraph and also Snake, should have some fights between each other and establish a firmer pecking order. If they're not fed to Mac/Ganon, they should at least have some 1v1 matches with each other over the next couple of weeks. If that's done, we'll probably see one of them emerge as a real contender. Ganon vs Mac could be a good match. IIRC, they battled twice in Season 1, with a win for each. |

Would be nice to see Mac take the title back from Proto seeing as Proto took the belt from Mac back during the Glitch bomb days. |
