Okay, Season 9 is now officially open! Since we just got the tag tournament today, there isn't much change in the championship scene, so here's some thoughts on the next Money in the Bank.

Since things aren't looking promising for a 2k15 switchover, it seems like a new MitB is overdue. Therefore, I've made a list of wrestlers who haven't yet won the main title and might make good picks...

Dracula
Goemon
Illidan
Johnny Cage
Octodad
Sabin or Heavy (This may depend on whether Sabin's still too new to insert into a MitB match)

What are your thoughts?

I could of sworn Dracula was a champion at one point...hmm guess not. I think Heavy will be stuck with Groose and his Bullies for now, so I think Sabin would be more likely at the moment.

Drac was very briefly the Casual Champion. But the MitB is for THE championship.

That being said, I like the lineup there, but to fill out the last slot I think it's a little early for Sabin (Though he'd make a fun wildcard).

That seems a pretty good line up for MITB. I'm more curious as to who could go after the belts at this point.

I reckon we'll need a week or two to sort out the contenders before a qualifier happens, because the only two I can think of who could go the title right now are Duke and Ganondorf. Maybe Bazza will want to give Sabin, Bowser, Illidan or Guile a match to see if they could jump into the title race.

As for the casual belt, right now I'd say Ebisumaru and Adam Jensen are the only two really looking at a shot (And Jimmy Lee but he's not exactly a singles guy). I'd like to see matches involving Bison, Ezio and Dan to see if they could have a shot. Ok, yes, Ezio or Dan vs Airman sounds like the squash of the century, but I'm not sure who else could go for it at the moment.

Flint could be a possibility as well. He looked like he was pulling his weight just fine in the tag tournament.

Though he'd need to actually win a singles match first. He did get a revamp recently, though he got borged soon after that, so he hasn't really had a chance to shine. Maybe throw Flint into a couple of lower-card singles matches to see if his fortunes have improved.

Wario could be another possibility. He actually seemed to be holding his own better than Waluigi for once in the tourney. Though eventually Ganon decided it was time to win, the fact that it wasn't a complete squash says something.

Unfortunately, both are on very bad singles losing streaks. I mean, Dan and Ezio aren't looking much better, but they have WON singles matches lately.

Though I think we can add Groose to the list of potential casual contenders. I mean, he's lost to both Arino and Red, but those two have had some chances, so I'd prefer giving a shot to Groose instead.

So yeah, right now I'm saying Ebisumaru vs Adam Jensen vs Groose but that will likely change by the next show.

There is no way you don't include Phoenix in a No.1 Contender's match now, yeah.

I'd say put him in the title match and make it a triple threat.

Use Bison, Cage, Ganon and Duke to sort out the 3rd spot.

So Season 9 is on, and with a big string of major upsets!

Main Title Predictions:

Phoenix vs. Duke vs. Ganon vs Johnny Cage.

Maybe have Cage and Bison fight for the fourth slot. Or keep the Scorpion vs. Ganon fight in reserve for Endgame 9, whether or not Scorpion still has the title, to have a Battle of Champions.

Either way, Phoenix coming out on top against the champ gives him a major case for a contender's shot. Duke and Ganon still have their respective records behind them. Cage probably has the next best case; beating Mac may be just the push he needs to make a shot for the top.

Not as sure about Bison, though. Beating Sabin in a close match is a big win, but Sabin's still fairly new and untested. I think Bison needs one more victory to be considered for the title run.

Casual Predictions:

Groose probably has the best case for the next Casual shot; he just trounced Falcon and has a solid record, to boot. Not sure who else could be aiming for a shot; Dan, Kefka, and Ezio could be good candidates.

Maybe Bison, though his victory over Sabin may have shot him over the midcard threshold.

Bison is in a more iffy position. He beat Sabin, who we know is good, and he really well against Duke, who we know is AMAZING, but I'm not certain he's ready for the big time just yet.

Phoenix, however, has pretty much earned a contenders match right there. Maybe not the next one. But he will be in another this season.

While I don't like the fact that this will be five shots in ~ two Seasons, Wright definitely has to be in a contenders match now. A win that big needs something even if the champ wasn't going at it with 100%.

Questioner of Sick Men
It's like Monathin said in Phoenix's discussion thread: just when the fans are getting sick of Phoenix getting all these Contenderships, he pulls out a convincing argument for his position out of left field and gets them to begrudgingly give him another chance. He truly does rise from the ashes.

Very well, Mr Wright. You'll have one more chance....

I'd go with
SCORPION
VS
PHOENIX WRIGHT
VS
The winner of a match between DUKE NUKEM and GANONDORF

Because Duke and Dorf shouldn't be forced to wait for a shot at the title.
