It's like Monathin said in Phoenix's discussion thread: just when the fans are getting sick of Phoenix getting all these Contenderships, he pulls out a convincing argument for his position out of left field and gets them to begrudgingly give him another chance. He truly does rise from the ashes.

Looking at the newest power ranking definitely makes me think that Cage should at least be considered.

Clearly Phoenix earned a shot though I can see someone, in story, near the top of the power rankings making an accusation that Phoenix doesn't deserve a shot because he got lucky once and that Scorpion didn't bring his "A" game for a non-title match.

Now that the power rankings have updated, I'll make a more focused prediction for the Casual championship.

Groose vs. Adam Jensen vs. M. Bison vs. Ebisumaru

With wins over Captain Falcon and Dan, Groose looks like he's ready to bully his way into the casual scene.

Meanwhile, Adam Jensen has a pretty solid singles record so far, having beaten Kefka and Segata.

Bison's been beasting since he saved his career with his victory over Sagat. A close win over red-hot returning challenger Sabin pretty much cements his position. While he may not be quite ready to tackle Scorpion, it looks like he could squeak into casuals pretty neatly. Besides, Air Man could use a strong challenger to test his robot superiority.

Finally, Ebisumaru is a fan favorite who has beaten Sonic and Gray Fox - both solid upper midcarders. While he's still a bit green, his popularity with the crowd may allow him to have a chance.

If the casual contender's match were to happen next week, these would be the four I'd pick. The issue is how the GM Tournament roster will shake out, and whether that will interfere with any potential matchups.

I feel that Bison should go after Scorpion, otherwise the casual picks looks fine to me.

So we're getting a casual #1 contenders match tomorrow.

Who you got? I'm guessing Bison's gonna be in it unless Bazza's planning for him to go after the main title.

For the most part, I think my prior prediction makes the most sense, though the main wrinkle is whether the GM Tournament's going to mess with things. I'd say Groose is a definite lock, since he's not involved in the tournament and he's got the record.

Other than the four I suggested, we could see Haggar or Snake getting plugged in, since Bazza sometimes plugs in upper-card guys in a slump. Or, heck, maybe even Illidan, if Bazza's really desperate to get the belt off Air Man. That's how we got Air Man and Dracula as casual champs, for instance, and DK's been in casuals at least once.

Or Zangief gets thrown into the casual contender's match at Mr. McMahon's insistence. That could potentially lead to a plotline where Gief realizes his growing irrelevance and ends up asking the Practice to turn him back into a robot. Mecha Zangief returns!

I played The Game and got stuck with Dunn for a month.
I'd be fine with Bison, Haggar and Groose getting a chance here.

Also, watch as Barret gets another chance at a title shot and wins again to face Air Man. Because looks like he's gonna keep trying to get dat belt, damn the consequences.

Barrett is special. It is one thing to choke on your contenders match. It another to win a title shot and lose in the title match so many times.

I can't think of any particularly BAD title shots Barret has had, and he spaces them apart by plenty of time. He'll very likely get a fourth championship match in the next season or two, and I'll still be cheering for him then.

Got a bit further to go.

Put Vegeta in the next #1 Contenders match.

NOPE.
Again, Vegeta's pinned Ganondorf and Scorpion in 2K14. I don't think anyone else ever can say they've done that.

Okay, we've got the Co-Op Championship match next week, and the Casual contender's been decided(not sure why I hadn't considered Octodad getting another shot, maybe because he'd had so many chances already?). Now for the big boys' belt.

I'm going to guess that people in the tournament aren't going to be considered for the title shot, which means that Phoenix, Cage, Duke, and others are out. Honestly, just give Ganondorf the shot. It's time to see that Clash of Champions where the two greatest champs prove which of them truly is the best.

If Ganon has to have an opponent to beat first... uh... :idunno:

Guile going for a rematch? He's the only person not in the tournament who'd make sense. Mac just lost to Cage, so it wouldn't make sense to give him a title shot. If Goemon had won that triple threat, he might be a possibility, but he got pinned first. And I don't think their wins tonight are enough to push Haggar or Illidan into title contention. Finally, DK needs a rest from his constant chasing of the co-op belt, but I think he'd need another match before he's ready to go for a title.

Guile did nothing wrong
Guile might have enough kayfabe ground to get into a contendership match now, at least if we go by WWE rules

Phoenix vs Guile vs Cage vs Bison/someone who beats Bison could be good

Edit: Forgot Duke
