Red and Scorpion should both have a casual shot. A triple threat match against Segata for the belt, because they certainly earned it. And yeah, I hope the episode has a Royal Rumble next week to start things off. |

With the end of tonight's episode hinting at a #1 contender's match for next week, I stand by my earlier picks. Bowser no longer has the excuse of his "legends contract" keeping him out of the mix. With his close victory over Dracula, I'd say the King of Awesome is ready to go for the belt once again. DK has his victory over Air Man behind him, and has kept up a consistent string of victories. Vegeta has, as predicted, staked his claim on the belt, and will definitely be in the contender match if he doesn't just challenge Haggar directly. AVGN is another strong competitor who could use a title shot, though he's also one of the Co-Op champions, which might hold him back. Then again, Ganon has held both Co-Op and Main titles before... The upper three seem like a lock, but alternate challengers to the Nerd may include Sagat or Mr. Satan. I don't see Kefka getting a title shot so soon after he tried to blow up the world(though it might be funny to see Jensen complain to Gabe about it). |

How about Scorpion/Red/INJUSTICE triple threat for Casual #1 contenders? sounds good to me. |

Well, looks like the next contender match will be a Royal Rumble, plus a Haggar vs. Vegeta match to determine the true holder of the disputed championship belt. Meanwhile, we've got Knuckles vs. Segata for the Casual Belt. It'll be interesting to see what the relatively untested newcomer can bring to the table. To take speculation on a different track, it seems like it's about time for another Money in the Bank match. It's been almost a year since that very first MitB match that would forever change the VGCW and kickstart its plotline. I don't expect a Money in the Bank match next week, since between the Royal Rumble, Haggar vs. Vegeta, and Segata vs. Knuckles it's already pretty fully booked. But here's my picks for who should be in the first MitB match in the 2k14 era: Zangief vs. Little Mac vs. Captain Falcon vs. Nappa vs. Red vs. Ganondorf The first four were in the very first Money in the Bank match, so having them return for a rematch would be a fitting tribute. At the very least, Zangief and Mac should be included for their role in starting the entire plot of VGCW. Red and Ganon have similarly played a large role in the VGCW, and could be good candidates to compete for the briefcase. Edited by Wyvernil, Nov 19 2013, 09:31 PM.

I can get behind this idea, though I don't know about Ganon's knees...trying to climb that ladder might break him |

I agree with this list, though I would potentially put Scorp in the place of Ganondorf, just to get Red and Scorp in the ring together again. |

I'd imagine we'd get one or two lower ranked wrestlers in the MitB match, someone like Barret. |

Yes it would be a tad better to have folks who have never held the title to be in MITB, Gannondorf and Bowser could very easily go to gabe and demand a shot. My preference would be Red, Scorpion, Geif, Waluigi, Nappa, and Phoenix Red and Scorpion deserve it for having Match of the night at a PPV, Geif nearly beat Gannondorf and probably would have won if he had gone for a pin, Waluigi and Nappa are both huge fan favorites and to my knowledge Waluigi has not had a title chance, while Nappa is nappa, and well Phoenix because we need someone completely random and I hate Octodad. |

Even I can feel the power...
|
Recent discussion in the Gaben thread had me thinking on the #1 Contenders scene, drawing from the Power Rankings and considering length of time since last opportunity. Did you know? The King of Awesome has not been involved on the title scene since December 9th, when he lost the belt to Adam Jensen in a Triple Threat, which included Lunk for some reason. Bowser hasn't been in so much as a Contenders match since, though I guess that's the price he paid for his legends contract. He's back full time now, and ranked 3rd in the Power Rankings, so give all the little Koopalings out there what they want to see and put him in a Contender's match. Ranked 5th, The Nerd's last Contenders match was May 29th, in a Six-Man Battle Royal with Ryo, DK, Proto Man, Flint, and Haggar, which Haggar won. While Bowser was off living the easy life, the Nerd was fighting and winning an astounding number of matches. Some people would rather keep the singles and tag team divisions separate, but when it comes to AD James, he's just too good to keep out of the running for the VGCW title.Did you know? Bowser and AVGN have never had a match. What about the rest of the Top 10? #2, Segata Sanshiroooooo's rank is inflated due to holding the Casual Championship. Even so, I'm not dismissing him entirely. Perhaps if he defends his title a few more times, and beats a top-card fighter (Sagat maybe) in a non-title match, he could be considered for a main title Contender's match. His last shot at the main title was May 11th, in the King of the Ring Tournament held to choose a new champion after Vegeta's death. He was eliminated in the semi-finals by Groose. #4, Kefka's last Contenders match was July 11th, in a Triple Threat against Chief Arino and Little Mac, which Mac won. The biggest obstacle to Kefka getting a #1 Contenders match is Gaben himself. The showdown at the Rumble between the clown and Kefka was probably the closest he's going to be allowed to get for a while. He could use a few more matches anyway, his record is a little thin. #6, Duke Nukem's last main title Contenders match was December 14th, a 1v1 against Proto Man, which the Glitch Bomb won. Since then he's been relegated to failing to win the Casual and Co-Op titles. Then 2K14 arrived, and Duke's big bowl of balls turned to steel. If Duke beats Ganondorf, I'd say he's for real, and he deserves a VGCW #1 Contenders match. If he loses…#7, Little Mac lost the title to Haggar on November 5th. I'd say he needs a match to be sure he hasn't lost his touch in the new season before going for the title again. #8, Mr. Satan's last chance was October 22nd, the Fatal Four-Way Elimination match with Groose, Haggar, and Sagat. You may recall being disappointed by what should've been an awesome match lasting 5 minutes with 3 submissions due to THQuality. The Hero of Earth deserves better. He deserves one more shot.#9, Sagat. See above, except with a record even thinner than Kefka's, he could also use a few more singles matches. Segata maybe. He's not going to be busy with tag matches now that Tiger Tuesday is out. #10, Air Man has never been in a #1 Contenders match. If beating the Pyro doesn't get you a shot, what will?Honorable mentions: Someone's asking "Where's Ganon", and the answer is ranked #15. His most recent shot was April 2nd, in the Fatal Four-Way with Gabe, Wily, and Barkley, to determine a new champion after DK was stripped of the title, with Barkley taking it.Knuckles for Triple Crown pls. |

That's not strictly true, though. It's not like I give him a bunch of extra points just for being champ. His matches as champion do count for a bit more, but he earned every single point he has. In fact, the matches are only given the same weight as No 1 Contenders matches. 's legit bro |

I'm just remembering how Red used to hold the same position Segata holds now. Once he left the relative safety of Casual competition, he couldn't cut it. I'll believe Segata is legit when he does what Red don't. Additional thought to add to that discussion that was going on above:Flint has to be in it. 45 active wrestlers. Haggar and Vegeta had their match. Gray Fox was missing. Ganondorf probably never intended to show up, based on his promo. That leaves 41, and Gaben putting himself in at 40 cost Flint his chance. I'm going to agree that whoever wins in the Duke vs. Ganon bout will be on a fast track to the next contender match. I suspect that Duke's surprise upset over DK was what gave him the honor of being Ganon's first 2k14 opponent: he'll be the ideal test to see if Ganon's ready to return to the big leagues. Also agreeing to giving Bowser and Nerd spots in the match. Though who knows when the next #1 contender match will be. If Season 5 is indicative of any trends, we'll start seeing Endgame 6 promos right after the Gabe vs. Haggar match, up until it actually happens ten episodes from now.

I'm actually inclined to agree. Although Flint's ranking doesn't really hold up to high standards, he did miss his chance during the rumble, and he held his own against God Kefka, which should probably count for something. The fans have really warmed up to him, too. It'd be great if he won it and didn't cash in until a villain held the title. |
