On the contrary, I love the idea of someone completely off-the-wall being put into a contender's match out of nowhere. It's not like it'd be too hard to rile Gary and we're still in the age of 'looking for a worthy challenger to Scorpion'. If it creates an even number of competitors, I'm all for it, because 3 is a terrible number. |

Didn't that literally happen with Snake? Well, Dante is probably booed....I mean, "booked", for Endgame so it's not an issue. Edited by Rude_Semprini, May 21 2015, 11:24 AM.

Yeah it did happen with Snake. It wasn't good when it happened with Snake. It's not good now. Zubaz does have a chance to prove his worth though, he's booked against Geif and with a few weeks to decide who's going to endgame, and casual already decided, a few nice wins could bring him up bigtime. |

Seriously why are you guys talking about Duke for contendership? I love Duke, he's in my fave five and I'd love to see him fight Guile, but he's had one match this season, a win against Travis, who isn't exactly topcard. If we were talking last season during Duke's great hot streak, sure. But the guy has barely been around all season. And if we're gonna toss ZUBAZ (a guy who lost to Waluigi) in the conversation after five straight losses then you might as well put Captain Falcon in there too. If we're gonna go with a wildcard, make it Wario or Toad or Gief or someone with actual momentum. It might be funny to have Zubaz in there but when you realize that by doing that you're giving someone with 5 straight losses over a guy like Goemon who's worked his ass off and has never gotten any respect for it, it's not that funny. And yes, Snake did lose two straight and he got a spot that a lot of guys really deserved more than him. We got lucky and got a fantastic match out of it but in hindsight it was a bad booking decision. Still, Sabin is a lock and needs to be in the Contender Match and I beg of Bazza to give Goemon a match next week. It's really starting to be depressing to be a big mark for the guy, he's one of my favorite wrestlers and I feel that if he continues to be handled like he is right now he'll go the path of Gray Fox or Tingle. If he can get just one more win he totally deserves to have a shot. |

That's all this is though. Conversation. It's not like Endgame is in two weeks, there's time, there's plenty of time for the people we're talking about to you know, do things. As it is right now, Duke has no right, and Zubaz is the antithesis of title material. But there is time. Goemon deserves to get booked, yeah, we get it, he's amazing and isn't booked well. But it's not liked the contenders list is locked down right now, a whole lot of people could make their case for the belt. |

Remember last year when we were excited for this?

On the one hand, you have a lot of possible contenders, so sorting through them is something that will need to happen. On the other hand, we already know who Kefka's defending against, and next week we'll know who The Dragons are defending against. While I understand the importance of choosing the right contender, the fact is we ARE getting pretty close to End Game, and I'd hope that we can get a quality build for this title match, no matter who it may be with. Frankly, it would be an outright waste for Guile to not get his heel on before defending the belt. |

Guile is a fantastic heel which is why Goemon is such a terrific opponent for him. I sort of see him as the pre- WM 30 Daniel Bryan of VGCW: The persistent underdog who refuses to go to the Midcard, who suffers some heartbreaking losses, incredible wins, but in the end never seems to come out on top. He's a great face and a "Go home kid, this is the big leagues" plotline would work perfectly with heel Guile as champion. The only problem is that some people aren't big on Goemon because Anime or something, but I really don't care. Edited by DongyKonga, May 21 2015, 04:24 PM.

So long as it doesn't end like last time where everything halted for a month so the end game match could be built up while everyone who had momentum suffered big losses. Sure, DK and Snake still got their shots, but Haggar, Bison and Groose were left in the wind. |

It might be a good call to have a Duke vs. Kanji match as the main event next week. The winner would get a spot in the next #1 Contender match. Maybe Duke hears about Kanji getting put in a contender's match and complains to Gary about letting some punk newcomer go for the belt. - Also, you could have a Dan vs. Goemon match as a test for both wrestlers. The winner of that match would be in prime position to claim a title shot. So, the card would be: Sabin vs. Donkey Kong vs. Kanji or Duke vs. Dan or Goemon. You could also replace Goemon with Dante to put the "old-timers vs. newcomers" theme into focus. Or take out DK to make it a triple threat. Edited by Wyvernil, May 21 2015, 06:03 PM.

I'd really like a new gen guy to be #1 contender just because it fits the season's theme to have the old face the new. THAT BEING SAID, not Kanji. I love Kanji, but the last time someone got a couple wins off a debut and became #1 contender super quick with little plot, we got Ness. I don't want Kanji to become Ness. Dante is on 2 losses now, but one was close contest with GOAT Scorpion and one was a 3 way. If he bounces back with a couple wins he has my full support. I'd also like Layton because ENGERLAND! He's also beaten Guile before. He'd need way more momentum though. |

Layton would probably make the most sense to put in a contender match because he's done pretty well for himself and didn't just get a shot like Dante did. He's got a 6-man win, a win over the champion Guile himself, and beat Falcon, and losses to Flint and Sabin (who I'd consider a lock). I think the fact that he's got a win over Guile makes his case pretty compelling. If he wins a match next week I could see him in the picture. |

A tournament of everyone who ever beat Guile to decide #1 contender. Which would be, going off the top of my head here and coumying multi man eliminations, Duke, Layton, Segata, Arino, Red, Wily, Scorpion (actually forget scorps) and then I dunno I think he lost a whole bunch in 13 so some of those guys. I just really like tournaments. Edited by Junpei Hyde, May 22 2015, 10:09 AM.

It's more impressive to beat a champion while they are holding the belt. Phoenix and Vegeta got into a contenders by pinning Scorpion in non title matches. |

Screw tournaments, we need a Fatal Fourway Tables match. Preferably with fire. |
