#1 Contender Prediction Thread; Who will be the next opponent to go for the belt?

Since we've got a Rumble on the way to determine the next #1 Contender after Sabin vs. Cage, I'll be focusing on the Casual Championship at the moment.

So who's in line to challenge Groose or Bison once their match is finished? Here's some thoughts.

Red vs. Ezio vs. Heavy vs. Kefka

Since the last Casual Contendership skewed higher into the power rankings than in previous seasons (with Travis and Bison, who looked like they were in the in-between threshold between midcard and top card), I've adjusted my predictions accordingly.

Kefka scored a win against Demoman, so he might be positioned for another chance at the belt. Heavy won his Triple Threat match tonight, and seems like he's ready for an opportunity.

Meanwhile, Ezio won a Triple Threat which included Nappa and Dante, two of the stronger competitors on the charts, to gain his Co-Op opportunity. I think that win could lead to bigger things even if he and Falcon can't stop the Dragons. Finally, Red managed to take down Bowser in a stunning upset, and is riding high on that win.

Honorable mentions: Phoenix Wright, Segata Sanshiro

So, what do you think?

Phoenix should not be anywhere near the casual belt.

A rose, by any other name...
Red is probably beyond the Casual belt as well, I don't think beating Bowser slots you into a Casual contendership match.

If he's not consistent enough to hang in the VGCW Championship title scene then fine, whatever, but sliding back into Casual territory is probably not in the cards anymore.

NOPE.
Ezio should get another match or two to see if this isn't a fluke, since he's been arguably the strongest wrestler on the roster this season.

I actually do think that Ezio might be a bit above Casual level with his recent win, and could be thrown into a match with someone like Snake or Haggar to test his aptitude. Maybe Red, too.

However, with the new showrunner, it's hard to gauge how he determines whether someone's casual or a potential main eventer. My previous list was skewed high to account for that.

A triple threat setup with Heavy, Kefka, and Segata could work. Unless it's still too soon since Kefka's last title shot. Then we'd need to find another person.

If there's a Sonic/Toad match next week at the PPV, we could fill the empty slot with whoever wins that match.

Revised prediction: Heavy vs. Segata vs. Kefka vs. Sonic or Toad

So, hear me out here. Scorpion just got a pin on the champion. He got squashed by Ganondorf and hasn't done much otherwise, sure. But if he beats Knuckles and maybe another uppercarder or two and Sabin's still got the title, well, Scorpion has a pin on the man!

I know, I know, this is playing with fire in more ways than one. I'm not sure how well a Scorpion heel turn would play out, and that's the only way I could see a second title reign going so soon after the first. I'm more thinking about what it could do for Sabin, 4 title defenses with the GOAT being one of them would make him one of the best champions in VGCW history. Beating Scorpion should be like, a trial for champions from now on.

...Scorpion isn't a heel already?

No, hes' not. He's been neutral. He's had heel moments, like against DK, but he noticibly mellowed out after losing at CT so he's back to a tweener.

Oh alright, oi, I got figure out what makes somebody a true heel or face. Wrestling is more complicated then I could have ever thought.

He's what we call a tweener.

With Segata now in plot, he's probably out of the Casual running for this season. Kefka has notched a couple decent wins this season so I'd be hard pressed not to include him in the contenders slot, Sonic and Toad are probably going to be busy feuding, anyone else I can think of are upper-midcarders which leaves Heavy and maybe Knux as the remaining potential contenders.

For tags: We got Flint and Barret in the discussion, and the newly formed Salvation Ops coming off a huge win over the Mavericks. Rogues probably will need more matches to earn a contenders slot.

Ezio should get a consideration in the Casual picture

Just give Heavy a title shot.

We could give Heavy a casual shot, after he inevitably turns faces and leaves the bullies.

Kefka and Heavy are the only two I can see heading for the Casual belt right now, and we have our VGCW Title contender in the DRAKE U LOVE.

As for Tag Teams, we're going to need to find a team that can actually stand up to The Dragons because they are MONSTERS. I'd recommend giving The Fuckheads and Snake/Jensen a match against some other team, then if they win, give them a Contenders match against each other.
