Flint would've beaten Guile if it wasn't for being stuck with a Custom Finisher, he could totally beat him now.
Hasn't that match already happened? Or am I mixing together Flint vs. Layton and Layton vs. Guile?

Flint didn't get reworked until Season 8 when Bazza's old PS3 bit the dust (RIP), this was back in early Season 7.

Okay, time to dust off the prediction board.

Assuming that Sabin vs Dracula isn't being saved for Endgame, here's who I could see in the contender's match for Endgame X1:

Snake vs. Barret vs. Ezio vs. Break Man

Kanji broke into the title scene with a victory over Snake last season. Now that Snake has returned the favor, it's only fair he gets a turn.

I think Barret's had enough of a break from the title scene. Scoring a decisive victory in a 2-out-of-3-falls match against Goemon shows that he just refuses to quit, as much as his perennial presence on the top ten rankles some.

Beating Guile was a big win for Ezio, and is likely to propel the assassin to the top ten of the power rankings. He's also beaten Dante and Nappa in a triple threat, which is quite the accomplishment as well. I think Ezio's a solid choice for the contender's match.

The fourth choice is a bit harder. Ganondorf's win against Phoenix and Red has been tainted by allegations of shady booking, which may keep him out of the mix. Air Man doesn't really have much singles presence, and Knuckles isn't quite there yet(though taking DK down a peg is a start). I think Proto Man would be the best pick for the fourth slot, coming off a victory against Dan and a solid singles record.

Maybe have Proto fight it out with Air Man, Ganon or Knuckles for the spot.

NOPE.
This isn't suggested out of malice for the guy, but I think Barret is in a very unique situation where he fits many of the qualifications towards a Career vs Title match. He's been entrenched at the top for so long now and on his current path he WILL have enough momentum to get yet another title shot, if he's not at that level already. But let's face it, if he doesn't seal the deal yet again then his career's pretty much toast at that point. I just feel as though it's a situation where a guy is definitely deserving of a chance, but needs to put something else on the line to make it more palatable to those who have lost all their patience with him, while still giving him that opportunity he rightfully deserves. If he wins, then the stigma is broken and he resurrects his dwindling career, just like Sabin did. If he loses, well then it was never meant to be and at least he went down fighting. Again, I don't hate Barret at all. But its put up or shut up time for his career if he can prove everyone wrong or not, at least from what I can tell.

I have a hard time seeing VGCW do that with anybody honestly.

I'd rather Barret just take a break for a while like Ivy did, although not for quite as long.

And then he can come back and give our Flavor of the Month a good old fashioned Catastrophe.

Honestly, I agree with Prozach. Barret's doing far more harm than good to the rest of the top card and people are starting to get fed up with him. We all know Small Match Barret will keep showing up until it's time t choke in an actual match.

Guile did nothing wrong
I brought up a career vs title match with Barret awhile ago and got shut down pretty quickly if I remember correctly.

I still feel like that it would be for the best if Barret manages to get yet ANOTHER title shot. I've been a fan of him ever since that handicap match against The Practice but it's just gotten to be too much. Small Match Barret is a funny joke and all but it's disappointingly accurate. Every Barret match to me just feels sort of pointless now unless the other guy goes over and even then, beating Barret still feels it would just propel someone into a multi-man casual contenders match instead of actually elevating them up the card like it statistically should at this point.

If he can actually win a title, great. Boyhood dream, slowburn, etc. But if he doesn't then the entire thing feels like another huge waste of time because no Champion has ever really gained anything from defending against Barret except for Red kind of. The other guys who constantly blow title shots have other things going for them, like Dukes top card status and Ezios momentum actually feeling meaningful. Then there's guys like Snake who have turned losing into an art (Like Snake vs Scorpion). It just feels like nothing about Barret has any weight to it and that he's just sort of taking up space at this point

I think Red is one of the cases where it reflected badly on the victor, that seemed to make a lot of people not fans of him.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see a plot where Barret is just flat out given a belt, which would pretty much be youtriedgoldstar.jpg in belt form, and the shenanigans that result.

How about Snake vs. Barret, a match between the two people with the highest choking rate?

Keep Snake the hell away from Barret, last time those two fought it was a total debacle.

MAY IS ̶B̶A̶E̶ HEEL!
Alright I usually do a couple of predictions after I post the momentum rankings so lets go for the main title...

If Dracula takes the title then Ezio vs Snake could be a good contenders matchup because of the past history both of the competitors have with Dracula. Ezio vs Snake are both on hot streaks right now as well and could put on a potential MOTS together. Dracula vs either of them could also put on a potential MOTS.

If Sabin retains the title then Break Man vs Snake could be a good contenders matchup. Break Man and Snake have recent history due to the Mavericks/Salvation Ops storyline. Break Man the Human-hater vs Sabin the Human could be a good face vs heel matchup for the title too.

Air Man feels like he's been stalling a bit after that win over Duke. An Airman vs Barret rematch could work to push either of them into a contenders match for the top title in the future. Barret still only feels casual level to me but if he can knock off the guy who crushed his dreams all that time ago then I'd definitly consider Barret as a threat to Sabin/Dracula. Barret vs Duke himself could also work as a top card test.
