Ditto on the cheers. You really do us a great service by continuing to maintain the Power Rankings.

Can I also say, I am so hype about Bowser being SO close to overtaking Sagata based on his rank alone. :gwar:

I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure his finisher is one of the Tombstone Piledrivers that isn't a PIN finisher. That really cuts the power of the move.

Greed Is Good, Crime Is Bad
In a surprising turn of events, Bison ended up pulling double duty this week. First, in the opening contest of the night, he defeated Tingle. Evidently, however, wear and tear from competing in the earlier match cost him dearly when he teamed up with Sagat later that night.

Shadaloo took on Wario Ware Inc. and suffered a tough loss after a long (over seventeen minutes) and competitive match that saw all four men absorb finishers. Wario in particular was a damage sponge, taking two Tiger Uppercuts as well as a DDT on the ring apron, yet surprisingly he was never made to bleed. Sagat handled the majority of the work in the ring and looked like the dominant force many have come to see him as, but in the end Bison's low stamina cost his team the victory after Waluigi arm dragged him from the top turnbuckle.

Wario Ware Inc. ascends to the middle of the pack with the victory, while Shadaloo find themselves in a surprising position - dead last. After bursting onto the scene with back-to-back victories, Shadaloo simply haven't been able to earn any victories against championship caliber teams.

He began his freefall way, way before 2K14, though, and the fact that he fell this hard is something that I legitimately do not understand how it happened. Like, not at all. Other characters that rise and fall I have a sense of why it happened when I look at their movesets, their opponents, their matches, etc. With Jensen I have NO idea. None.

Every once in awhile I rewatch some old matches and whenever I see something like Jensen/Ganondorf it just makes me think that WWE 13 Jensen was a middling at best wrestler relying on the most OP finisher in the game to push him forward. I guess his luck with getting that finisher off in advantageous positions just ran out at some point, and if his 2K14 iteration is using the standard Tombstone then yeah he's probably staying at that bottom rung.

I actually like that gimmick, a terrible wrestler with a ridiculously overpowered finisher.

Jensen has the one with the pin. The AI has to confirm the pin sequence though. It isn't something you get automatically.

I think he didn't pin because Phoenix was too close to the ropes. In the casual contenders match he got the Tombstone off against Phoenix in almost the exact same area in the ring and he didn't pin him there either.

Maybe, but the Tombstone is a directional throw, meaning the AI could have redirected Phoenix toward the center of the ring during the animation. I have seen the AI do this before, although not often (maybe it was only in Beat the Streak mode?)

Yeah, tombstone you have to actually activate the pin (I guess with Mist Claw as well if Airman was any indication).

But in the beginning he was a legitimate threat even outside the Tombstone being The Tombstone.

I've NEVER seen the AI use the directional throw before.

Guile did nothing wrong
The AI usually won't use the pin if it's downright guaranteed that they won't get the 3 count, AKA the first finisher of the match, which is especially true now, since most fights will seen 3-4 finishers used. While the Tombstone is still really good, you'd be hard pressed to end a match after just one, the same as every other move. People seem to forget this a lot since last broadcast was basically the first time we've seen the Tombstone successfully used in like a few months. Jensen's downward spiral is just a combination of bad luck and his AI deciding to be really, really bad, plus a lot of his normal moves (Takers knee strikes and elbows, among others) aren't that helpful in a normal match. Often times it's just being countered at all the wrong times (against Phoenix and Bowser, who he should of beaten dammit) or him shitting the bed completely (Captain Falcon, Little Mac, etc.). After the match against Phoenix, we at least still know that he can put on 5 star performances.

Maybe he's just paying his dues, brother
