Link has a record of 3-3-4? I thought he was the original super jobber. That's hardly anything.
I don't quite get that either. Apparently it was because he lost to Waluigi in his debut...but Waluigi had only had one fight before that so I don't know why that was enough to give him the Jobber of Time title.

All I can explain it with is that the audience was really damn weird in early VGCW.

Link was NOT a jobber, at all actually.

I remember his debut match.

People seemed to really take to the idea of Link being a loser for some reason.

Shame. I like to think that if we could have given him a good enough hat he might still be hanging around to this day. With that having been his record until his termination, it's very possible he was better then anybody gave him credit for at the time.

NOPE.
Lunk never would have stuck around longterm because there's a very obvious deficiency to how he looks that is hard to ignore. He was dropped for good reason.

Also, quick look at the Wiki and his record starts to make sense: his 3 wins came against the less-than-illustrious group of Waluigi, Waluigi again, and the Badman. That isn't good, like, at all.

He did get a title match though, so good job on that.

Link being decried as being the Ultimate Jobber probably ended up working out well for him. Because without it we wouldn't have Drunk Link, which is probably my favourite thing out of the whole VGCW Universe. It's really great.

I perfectly understand why Link was dropped and why he's not around anymore, I was just saying I wish that there WAS his hat in the game, because if so, he MIGHT still be on the show.

Link was unfortunate in that Waluigi was considered to be in the low card at the time. Fans also viewed Wah as a loveable loser due to, well, how Nintendo itself sort of treats Waluigi. Link had (IIRC) been specifically created/found on the servers in response to the Thousand Years of Darkness as the one man who could defeat Ganondorf, so there were a ton of expectations placed on him. When Link was defeated by the (then considered) lowly Waluigi, it looked like all was lost and Ganon's reign would be eternal. Furthermore, Hyrule Historia and the idea of the Downfall/Decline Timeline was still pretty new, so people jumped on that as well.

Link did get some wins, but two of those were against Waluigi in an attempt to win his hype back and the damage was already done, especially since Wah was still thought to be pretty weak and his record at the time supported that idea. 32-5 also made Link seem completely unneeded, and while his Iron Boots did take down Bowser, him just standing there staring as Jensen stole the pin didn't help his reputation. Link also lost every multi-man match he was ever in, losing to Jensen twice and getting pinned early in elimination matches. Finally, beating Vegeta definitely wasn't an accomplishment back then, let alone in an "Ultimate Jobber" battle, and Link no-selling a Table-san spot then Skyward Slamming a victory made him look like the less skilled jobber as well, thus costing him his job.

Yeah, Link was mainly a victim of high expectations. Waluigi has always been a jobber though, but the best jobber of VGCW.

X: Doubt
Will Red be losing any points for a handicap match? That seems kinda unfair to penalize him for it too bad.

I played The Game and got stuck with Dunn for a month.
I look forward to how big a jump Barret gets from this.
