Once bitten, twice shy here. That mid-game point. I'll keep my eye out but eh. We'll see.

I'm going to redouble my efforts and try to beat the first one. I'm like you guys, I was loving life until the Wham Episode halfway through, and now it's like "Do I have to fight the same stinking crystal guardians again? And grind?"

It's a shame, because I was genuinely charmed by the game being like FFV and all.

(Also VGCW made me pick the game up in the first place. Land of Civil War is one hell of a track for a town theme.)

Surprised no one has posted this yet, Europe has a release date confirmed for Bravely Second, February 26th, along with a collectors edition.

More sizzle than a rasher of bacon.
North American release of Bravely Second just got a date, April 15th. We're getting a collector's edition too, but if you were hoping to get that Agnes figure the other versions are getting, I'm afraid that's not happening. On the plus side, having the 250-page artbook translated is really cool, we never got a translation of the first one.

As much as I'm not keen on shelling out 100 to 110 loonies for the collector's edition anyway, what is it with Nintendo and Square-Enix fucking NA over all the time now?

I think I'm going to hold off on getting this game, at least for a while. There's going to be a standalone demo coming along in a little while and I'll probably play that.

As much as I liked the job system in the first game, the entire second half just left a bad taste in my mouth and has really prevented me from starting a new play-through. I don't know how anyone thought it was a good idea. I'm worried the sequel will have some equally annoying gimmick.

It's confirmed to not have anything nearly as bad.

So if you've got one of those Best Buy video game memberships, then you probably got a demo code for Bravely Second recently. If you're not one and can't snag a code from someone else, the demo is available for everyone on the eShop on Thursday.

I started the demo this week, and I'm so glad to be back in this battle system again. The demo features a number of jobs old and new, and includes some asterisk fights as well. It's supposed to be about 5 hours, and I'm maybe 4 hours in and getting to the end, so that's pretty accurate. It's got a short story that introduces you to Yew (the new male lead), his fellow cavaliers, and Magnolia who's already a fun addition to the team.

I know there's plenty of censorship controversy around this game, but really, all I want to do is just play it. I've waited a couple years, I'm ready to get into this again no matter what.

Can confirm: the demo is fun. The main game's pretty sweet as well. I'm only a little way into Chapter 2 (having got distracted by Twilight Princess HD), but from what I've played so far I'm really enjoying it.

Also, interface spoilers (if those even count as spoilers) confirm that there are much much fewer repeated battles, which was my main gripe with the first game.

Word to the wise - if you do get the bonus goodies bundle, don't read the artbook before playing the game. It has spoilers.

Trying out the demo, and it's a lot like the demo was for the first game in that it jumps you right into things, with a lot of "quests" given out by people. And like the first demo, you're really short on gold with a lot of things you quickly need to buy.

In fact, the whole game itself is basically identical to the first one (not that this is a bad thing). It's like I never stopped playing, the menus and battle system are exactly the same except for more autobattle options (which I've not really used).

Didn't get to use much of it yet but I'm already really liking the Spellcraft skill.

I just started the demo myself and I noticed something, did Nikolai's Voice Actor also voice Master Malik in Tales of Graces f?

*has looked this up*

Huh, it is the same voice actor...damn this dude has done a LOT of roles...and apparently he has been the voice of Lu Bu since Dynasty Warriors 5, thats kinda impressive
